Though we have won the battle, we have yet to win the war.

This has all left a dangerous precedent in gaming history. Micro transactions are swarming the market. Our primary goal as a group now is to increase awareness of a few things.

First, Mod authors arn't wrong for wanting money. Making mods isn't free to the authors and it takes a lot of time to perfect some mods. We should support a donation button for the authors

As a side note to that, should Bethesda/valve get a cut? Perhaps. But not 75% worth. The mod author should get 75%. After all they made the mod, they spent the time and resources and created something we like. Bethesda may have made the game but the game is just a tool we use. We don't pay the maker of a screw driver everytime we make something. We shouldn't have to pay Bethesda for making a Mod with the tool we bought from them.

However Bethesda is a for profit company and doesn't work for the fun of it. My fear is that this will have left a bad taste in their mouth and as such, will under produce the next ES or FO game and expect modders to fix the game for them. So as an incentive we should send part of that 25% to Bethesda. That's my opinion.

Valve on the otherhand has way more claim to the 25%. They gave us the workshop, they host the game, they host the mods. Ok, so I think its fair if they got paid for doing that service to. But not 75% and definitly not mandatory that we pay for a mod in the first place.

Another thing we need to watch out for is microtransactions. Do not partake in microtransactions! EA has made this mistake. And people are buying into this pay-to-win scheme for far to long. This is ruining games. This is making MMO's/Online multiplayer games so frustratingly expensive and basically it says to me, "oh well, I don't need skill or persistance at this game as long as I can just pay all these cool loot drops and additional gear" This is stupid. Lets discourage this. Mods almost became a microtransaction scheme, which would have completely ruined steam for me.

Another thing, report stolen mods. Mods have recently been rehosted on here and people have tried to sell them off as their own. If you see a mod on the market place that is not posted by the original creater, report it.

Too many gamers out there ignorantly buy the wrong things and support the wrong type of gaming and this makes it hard for the community to fight against microtransactions and greedy devs
