ABOUT 1st Brigade Combat Team

1st BCT Unit Composition
1/BCT is comprised of teamwork-oriented soldiers interested in kicking ass through effective use of modern combined arms tactics. Enlisted soldiers and officers assigned to 1/BCT should be proficient in small unit infantry tactics and the use of various tactical aids such as fortifications, artillery and AI squad management.

Combat Skills:
While this is an elite combat organization, it is open to all interested soldiers regardless of rank or experience. Teamwork is the core skill expected of all 1/BCT soldiers, as coordination and communication are the foundation of success on the RWR battlefield. Overall proficiency with weapons systems, vehicles and a range of small unit and mechanized tactics are all critical areas of skill development.

Tasking:
1/BCT soldiers should generally focus on several main combat roles. Vehicle tasks will fall into three main categories, with Special Operations being an additional and relatively infrequent responsibility. As we are all soldiers in the same army, specific General Infantry (GI) roles will often take priority over vehicle missions.

Vehicle Combat Support Tasks:

Armored Combat Support
- Fire Support
- QRF (Quick Reaction Force)
- Convoy & HVV (High Value Vehicle) Escort
- Armored Reconnaissance
- Spoiling Attacks
- Offshore Tactical Artillery Support

Transport
- Primary transport (point to point)
- Flanking maneuvers
- Water transport (covert insertions and beachhead support)

Logistics
- Movement of Spawn/Armory trucks
- Creation of FOBs (Forward Operating Bases) with logistic & combat assets
- Comms truck employment

Dismounted Tasks:

General Infantry (GI)
- Tactical communications
- Fire Support
- Anti-Tank/Anti-Vehicle
- Emplacement of sandbags
- Emplacement and use of static weapons such as mortars and large caliber machine guns
- Forward Observation of off-map artillery fire
- Drop Zone designation and management
- Emergency medical care

Special Operations
- High Value Vehicle retrieval/destruction
- Various overt and covert missions including (but not limited to) mine emplacement, sabotage, and diversionary attacks.
- Special weapons support (Sniper/Designated Marksman, Grenadier, Anti-Armor)

The discussion section of our group page contains 4 separate forums available as watering holes for members, grizzled veterans and green recruits alike, to coordinate games and trade war stories, tactical tricks and hard-won combat wisdom.

1/BCT Attracts the Cream of the Crop, Introducing Weekly Operation Themes

Greetings 1/BCT soldiers and officers!

Over the last few weeks, a few motivted volunteers formed 1/BCT and our members immediately embarked on operations all over the frontline. Despite incurring heavy losses of both soldiers and equipment, our tactical successes have been resounding throughout this seemingly endless war.

Our members' skillful employment of small unit tactics, mechanized warfare, special operations and logistical support has begun to build 1/BCT a hell of a reputation on the battlefield. The 1/BCT tactical tips library is growing, our country club has seen steady business and one skilled member has even devised communication hotkeys, to streamline our use of the tactical radio.

These are exciting times for our combat unit; our numbers have grown steadily since our initial formation, and we will likely see our 75th member join shortly! In keeping with our foundational goal of keeping things fresh and encouraging innovative play, 1/BCT will be incorporating weekly themes into our regular group events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Everyone is encouraged to post theme suggestions for the next week in the group forum and on our main page! Possible tactical themes could be (but are not limited to): Maritime Operations, Combined Arms, Mobility Tactics, Special Operations, Transport & Logistics, and Heavy Weapon Support.

These themes are not a rule; members are free to participate and take part in any constructive way they choose. Our themed events are intended to provide the opportunity to interact with RWR a bit differently than usual. By inviting our soldiers to collectively learn and perfect new tactics and team roles, 1/BCT hopes to encourage the continued growth of our members' creative skills and level of interest in RWR.

Our first weekly theme is... Combined Arms Warfare! On May 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 1/BCT will deploy our soldiers with the aim of close, tactical coordination of infantry with armored fighting vehicles. Mechanics are thoroughly overhauling our vehicles in preparation for intense operations alongside friendly infantry. Our equipment will be ready.... will you?

Seeking both qualified and apprentice Drivers, Gunners and general infantry of all stripes. Let's meld fleshy men and greasy, ironclad machines into a well oiled combat apparatus. See you on the battlefield!

General Announcement for all soldiers: UNRESTRICTED COMBAT OPERATIONS AUTHORIZED - EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

To all enlisted soldiers and officers who have transferred into 1st Brigade Combat Team organization: Soldier dossiers and [REDACTED] have been screened by [REDACTED], and TDY paperwork has been processed by Army General Headquarters (A-GHQ). A-GHQ clerical staff has confirmed that Temporary Duty pay, hazard pay and Army standard personal life insurance forms are all updated and filed.

You are now assigned to 1/BCT for the duration of the current conflict. Volunteering for such a hazardous assignment is an indication of your commitment to your country in this time of endless RWR war. Welcome aboard!

Congratulations everyone, in just a few short days our unit has expanded to 55 soldiers, with more applying for transfer every day! We now have enough soldiers, officers and combat specialists to conduct multiple parallel operations.

COMBAT OPERATIONS:

There are small units of 1/BCT soldiers and officers operating on the front lines every day, and our tactical expertise has already been making a significant impact on the battlefield. To further our goal of beginning to coordinate larger 1/BCT events, our officers have proposed hosting several informal weekly group operations on Official Invasion and/or Dominance servers. These group events are open to any members who are interested and able to participate.

It's high time our unit made a name for itself in the community. Let our prowess on the battlefield speak for itself and make our unit legendary among the soldiers fighting the Great RWR War.

ORGANIZING OUR BASE OF OPERATIONS:

Our group page is the headquarters of all 1/BCT elements and the locus for all operational command.

1/BCT HQ now features:

Group Chat: An informal watering hole. A great place to talk tactics, coordinate missions and play sessions. BE ADVISED: Group chat notification sounds are turned off by default, change this if you wish.

Member List: Add fellow soldiers as friends! Join friends' games directly from the Library page in Steam!

Forums: The brain trust of 1/BCT. We currently maintain 4 distinct forums under the "Discussions" tab (forum links are on the right sidebar):

1.) The Ready Room, a general catch-all forum. Posts made here may be moved to relevant sub-forums.
2.) Tactical Wizardry, a growing tactical library with 10 distinct sections. Contribute your secrets, tips and tricks and help 1/BCT soldiers develop their tactical skillsets and survival skills.
3.) 1/BCT Coordination, a space to coordinate group operations, develop improved communications infrastructure, etc.
4.) The Country Club, our unit club. Regale us with your war stories, battlefield legends and other assorted ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. We need more war stories, and RWR is a fertile environment for inspiring triumphs and crushing failures alike.

OUTREACH:

1/BCT is still growing, and all soldiers are encouraged to recruit interested and motivated individuals who are open to fun, coordinated tactical play.

The learning curve in RWR is turning out to be quite a challenge for some, and 1/BCT is in a strong position to help with advice, encouragement and leadership.
