Introducing Nanites – A Dark and Creepy Zombie Survival Experience!
Inspirations:

Gameplay: Fortnite Save the World
Artstyle / Visuals: Lethal Company
Atmosphere: Days Gone

Nanites takes place on December 12, 2084, when an accidental spill in the Quantum Byte research facility unleashes a deadly force. Quantum Byte had secretly developed advanced nanotechnology under the project name Nanites, but when a worker’s slip-up opened an airlock door, the Nanites escaped, wreaking havoc on the facility and turning the world upside down.

These Nanites are not just a simple threat; they take over living beings in gruesome ways, and their true motives remain a mystery. What’s clear is they are extraordinarily dangerous.

The Quantum Byte facility, hidden deep within a volcano in Volmoor, is known as The F.R.F. (Future Research Facility). The game will explore the secrets of this high-tech but ill-fated project, offering a world full of unanswered questions. Like an iceberg, what you know is just the surface; there’s much more lurking beneath.

Gameplay and Atmosphere: In Nanites, you’ll explore a dark and creepy world, reminiscent of Days Gone’s post-apocalyptic environments, while experiencing tense survival mechanics inspired by Lethal Company. The world may not always give you clear answers, so uncovering the mysteries behind the Nanites and their origin is part of the journey. You’ll have to survive against relentless threats and find clues hidden throughout the environment, piecing together the story as you go. The narrative is revealed through subtle hints, letting you uncover the truth piece by piece.

Our gameplay also draws from Fortnite Save the World (STW), but with improvements. We aim to refine the mechanics to make the experience better, while keeping the dark and creepy atmosphere central to the gameplay. We’ll make sure the game is fun to play solo, but we’ll also maintain the challenge when playing multiplayer. No more Public 160s frustrations.

difficulty will scale based on the number of players, so whether you're solo or in a team, the experience remains engaging.

Hardware Considerations: We know that Unreal Engine’s requirements can be pretty hefty, and for a game with such an intense, atmospheric world, you’ll want a smooth experience. We’ve aimed to make Nanites more accessible to a wider range of players. We don’t want to rely heavily on FSR or XeSS to make the game playable, but we will implement these technologies to improve the experience for players with lower-end hardware. Here's a look at the current hardware targets:

Bare Minimum Hardware (Vulkan 720p, low settings, 30fps):
CPU: Intel i7 2600
GPU: GT 710
RAM: 8GB

Recommended Hardware (Vulkan 1080p, high settings, 60fps):
CPU: Intel i7 2600
GPU: GTX 1650
RAM: 8GB

Note:

These specifications are subject to change as we continue development, but we're committed to ensuring a smooth experience on a variety of systems.

Key Features:

Genre: Third-Person Shooter, Action, Survival
Engine: Unreal Engine 5.5.1
Platforms: Windows, native Linux with possible future console ports.

Gameplay Inspiration: Fortnite Save the World (improved survival mechanics), Days Gone (atmospheric exploration), Lethal Company (creepy visuals and tense gameplay)

Story Highlights:

Date: December 12, 2084
Location: Quantum Byte Facility (F.R.F., Volmoor)
Plot: A disastrous spill unleashes the Nanites, an aggressive nanotechnology that takes over bodies and becomes a deadly force.
Mystery: The true origin and motives of the Nanites are unknown, and players will uncover the dark truths behind the experiment.

Development Goals:

Build a better Fortnite Save the World experience
Optimize the game for smooth performance (first Unreal game with decent performance)
Design intuitive mechanics that don’t require guides or instructions

The game is designed to be multiplayer, but we know how hard it can be to find a consistent team (Public 160s anyone?). That’s why Nanites will be just as enjoyable solo, with a difficulty scaling system that adjusts for multiplayer play.
