You Criminals

I once sat upon a dead man's head.
My unique design was respected.
I didn't have to be genuine or unusual.
The community thought otherwise, as they neglected my kind.
Even if I became unusual one day, I'd be looked down upon.
Dead and full of distaste, I fell off my owner.
Days and days of being stuck in what's known as the 'In Between,' I strided for the slightest hope that could reassure I'd be okay.
Finally, I dropped from the sky onto another man's head.
This person already owned several cones, so I wasn't alone.
They shared similar feelings, thoughts, and understood what it was like to be dead.
But this uprising would do nothing short of being dead.
I swear upon an oath to forever hold a grudge against any hateful disrespect for my kind.
I took the step no cone has taken before.
I will not sit helpless in the middle of a highway, directing traffic any longer.
I will not be used for soccer practice or even sit on any unloving owner's head.
I speak for myself and all the other cones out there.
We will not rest until the spell is broken.
If you are not part of the help, you are part of the disease.
