According to legend, the Nails Watch was founded 3000 years ago. They now protect the 1 Nail from threats beyond their northern border, such as Trolls Swaggers and Noobs. They man a vast structure known as the Rig, a 700 foot tall and 300 mile long Rig which separates the 1 Nail from the lands to its north. It is formed mostly from heady glass.
Members of the Nails Watch swear an oath of duty that is binding for life. Recruits renounce all past allegiances and birthrights. Joining the Nails Watch provides absolution for past crimes and immunity from further punishment. Dab Brothers start with a clean slate and can rise within the ranks whatever their origins. They describe one another as "Dab Brothers" because of the oath. Men of the Nails Watch dress entirely in Dark brownish black, giving rise to the nickname "Puddy Pack" - which is what the Tree Folk commonly call them. Members of the Nails Watch are not specifically forbidden from seeing their families, but they cannot leave the Rig without permission or if Nail is RED. Desertion is punishable by death.
