Monumental Games

Monumental was formed by industry veterans Rik Alexander (CEO) and Rocco Loscalzo (CTO) in 2005, with the objective of producing Massively Multiplayer Online Games that would redefine the industry.

Pre-2007
After a year spent extending the underlying technology while undertaking smaller third party development projects, new publisher CyberSports approached the team to collaborate on the sports-themed MMO 'Football Superstars' (www.footballsuperstars.com).

2007
Much of 2007 focused on growing the studio with the quality talent required to developing this ground-breaking title, as well as making the requisite enhancements to the underlying technology. Towards the end of the year licensing of this technology - the 'Monumental Technology Suite' - began in earnest.

Since then, licensees have included indie developers, established studios, and businesses looking to develop virtual worlds for research, simulation or commercial purposes.

2008

In 2008 to date, Monumental has...

won over £400,000 of awards for R&D from EMMedia and the Technology Strategy Board
formed over 15 key partnerships with publishing service partners in billing, hosting, and technology sectors
signed two new 3rd party game development projects
begun development of Monumental's first wholly-owned IP MMO title
established a new offshore studio in India
acquired the excellent Swordfish Studios (Manchester)
provided consultancy services to a number of high-profile companies outside of the games industry
grown to over 80 full-time staff
reviewed its working practices to improve the welfare of its employees
moved to new offices in Nottingham's historic Lacemarket sector
