Stories tell of a legendary soldier who, with Metal Gear in his command, had once waged war against the world. His name is Naked Snake a.k.a. Big Boss. Now, in response to a world hungry for answers, the truth behind the legend will finally be told. The era is the 1970's. Big Boss had stationed “Soldiers without Borders” in Colombia, South America, there he has approached by a visitor from the Costa Rica, “A Nation without a Military”. In the wake of Cuban Missile Crisis, as Latin America became a key to maintaining the power Balance between East and West, Costa Rica had miraculously managed to maintain its peace and neutrality. However, in various regions of the country, a mysterious armed force seemed to be engaging in suspicious activities. Now, ti preserve peace in this nation without military, the “Soldiers without Borders” move into action. In time, they would come to be known as the founders of “Outer Heaven”

Hideo Kojima (小島 秀夫, Kojima Hideo?, born August 24, 1963) is a Japanese video game designer originally employed at Konami. Formerly the vice president of Konami Computer Entertainment Japan, he is currently Managing Director Operating Officer and Studio Head of Kojima Productions. He is the creator and director of a number of successful games, including the Metal Gear series, Snatcher, and Policenauts. He has also produced both the Zone of the Enders and Boktai series. Kojima is consistently named by fans and industry experts alike as being one of the most influential and innovative video game directors and writers of all time, as well as being on many all time director top ten lists. Newsweek named Hideo Kojima as one of the top ten people of 2002. In 2008, Next-Gen placed him #7 in their list of "Hot 100 Developer 2008." Recently, he was awarded the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award handed to a game designer at the 2008 MTV Game Awards and was also honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2009 Game Developers Conference
