Extended Mutation System released

Today we are releasing an Extended Mutation System for the L4D2 Beta program. Modders from around the world will help us test the expanded tools before we roll them into the main game and the workshop.

What is EMS? It is vastly improved scripting system that allows script authors to go past modifying existing scripts and write custom script logic, spawn and control entities, and much much more.

Mod authors will now be able to create deep custom experiences that can be played on any map or tailor create something for new or existing maps.

We have included numerous examples including a new survival mode called Holdout, other all new game modes, and numerous other examples to help show mod authors how to use the new tools.

We have also included a wiki ( http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/L4D2_EMS/Intro ) walking through some of the simplest examples and this week we will be online in the Beta group chat and forums to help modders learn the new tools.

How long will EMS be in beta? Long enough for us to achieve our goals:
- Find out what new tools people use, and how well they work.
- Find out what are the most important missing features we can add.
- Drive out as many bugs and issues as possible.

For everyone else waiting to play these new creations, we have some changes coming up for the workshop and our servers based on community feedback.

We will be updating this beta build with our new scripting tools Monday. Since the tool is very powerful but also complex, during the week we will available for chat and help in using the new tool. We will also be providing tutorials and an updated developer wiki. We can't wait to see what you create with it.

I'm curious if there's plans to continue keeping the same L4D2 updates in the beta.
Or if they've always been on par with one another.
The last updates to L4D2 might not be a whole lot, but they still looked important.

RELEASING TONIGHT 10/29 !!!!! 9:00PM EST SERVER SUPPORT IS APPRECIATED! We will have a single server running this map and the original Downtown Dine Series so you can run a full marathon of 8 maps! Posted pics and video always welcome!

The Lazarus Society Presents: DEAD END : Downtown Dine : The Lost Maps. These maps occur after map three of the original Down Town Dine Series. Our survivors had it harder then we imagined. The tour; 1. The Streets 2. The Manor 3, The JunkYard Welcome to Downtown Dine. The neighborhood just isn't what is used to be. The citizens of the Downtown Chamber of Commerce attempted to stave off the infection. With the help of local military forces, they set up checkpoints, health facilities, and attempted to maintain law and order. They Failed.
