Epic Online Services (EOS) to be expanded to consoles
Seeking to expand its crossplay tools and infrastructure for developers on consoles to utilise, Epic announced this week that Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo Switch games - particularly Unreal Engine titles - will see the inclusion of EOS in addition to the number of games on Steam that have seen EOS integration.

SuperAwesome supports ESRB facial recognition
The Epic subsidiary dedicated to making a "kid friendly internet" and Yoti have came out in support of a U.S. FTC proposal for the ESRB to use facial recognition to verify age in games. In the application, Epic specifies that;

"The system takes a facial image, converts it into numbers, and compares those numbers to patterns in its training dataset that are associated with known ages.”

The FTC has entered a period of public consultation and feeback until August 21st.

Epic v Apple: Appeals judge criticises Apple
Judge Milan Smith of the 9th Circuit Court criticised Apples' legal arguments against the injunction that stops Apple from banning developers from posting links to payment options that bypass the app store (Epics' only victory in its lawsuit against the tech giant).

Despite granting Apple a 90-day period to appeal, Smith said that Apples' arguments "cannot withstand even the slightest scrutiny".
