Die By the Sword

Developed by Treyarch, and published by Tantrum and Interplay in 1998, Die By the Sword is a hack-and-slash adventure game unlike any other. This game, through the medium of "VSIM" software, granted the player to have direct control over their charater's sword arm. No button-push that leads to animations, no button-sequences to do comboes or special moves. Every swing of the sword is guided by your own hand, which can either lead to decisive victory, or brutal defeats.

Die By the Sword, along with the Limb from Limb expansion set, have a lot to offer. Each game introduces a challenging "Quest Mode" in which the player runs the gauntlet of tricks, traps, puzzles, and beasts which the game has to offer. Alongside quest mode is also an "Arena Mode" in which you can engage in combat in a variety of settings, levels, and against (or playing as) and character within the game. Ogres being a pain in your arse? Have some fun, and wallop some would-be heroes as an Ogre yourself!

And in case controlling your sword arm is too demanding for your style of play, the game also features a custom-move editor, which allows you to create attacks that can me macroed to the push of a single button! The game comes with some by default, but the move editor allows you to tailor it to your own tastes.
