Here is my take on Reddit

I want to be honest and say that as a long time Metal Gear fan I gave Death Stranding a real shot and it is slightly enjoyable but certainly not what I was expecting. It’s a decent game but seeing now that it seems it didn’t sell as well as Sony hoped and the rumor mill swirling about Sony and Konami in talks for a possible deal, how likely do you guys think this is to happen?

We can only assume Kojima has a large amount of disdain for Konami and as a whole he was long sick of making Metal Gear games. But perhaps if Sony came to a decent agreement and Sony really wanted him to do it since they helped him get back on his feet he would then find it more appealing? Konami can’t create and sell a successful Metal Gear game without that “A Hideo Kojima Game” on the label and I’m sure especially after Survive they’re well aware of that. Kojima would most certainly never work for Konami again after all the theatrics and blatant disrespect between the two.

if Kojima was working for Sony because Sony knows Metal Gear despite it’s third party status is heavily associated with the Playstation brand and sells consoles and Metal Gear Solid 6 by Hideo Kojima would really push those PS5s out the door, how likely do you think it would be that Kojima said yes even though with a license agreement Konami would get a slice of the pie?

Konami sits back and gets a slice of the profits, Sony has a game that would certainly make people want a PS5(especially if it’s exclusive like MGS4), and Kojima Productions would certainly make their fill on the release. Looking at the facts and Konami’s underutilization of big name games like Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Silent Hill; why wouldn’t they want to maintain control of their IPs while profiting? They would skip out on hefty development costs while keeping their franchises relevant, and just sitting back and getting that money. From a business standpoint that sounds like a huge win to me. What do you all think?
