It's done.

It's FINALLY done.

This has been a journey and a half, but it's actually done.
I'm pretty happy with the final result, but I've still got a lot of work to do, specially with the spawn rooms, don't get me wrong, they're not the worst, but they're way too basic, feel like I could've added a bit more but I just wanted to finish the map already, didn't wanna leave you guys hanging any longer.

But if you could just bare with me for a second, I'd like to apologize:

I'm sorry this map took so long to make, not only am I a perfectionist, I went in with high expectations, I thought I could make a valve tier map... I could not. And so, I was confused and frustrated with myself.
I basically jumped into a giant pit and got mad because I broke my legs.

Just wanted to put that out there, because I felt like a genuine ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, making you guys wait for so long. Felt like I let you down.

I know it's kind of a weird note to end it on, but I just really needed to put that out there.

I'm sorry if that came out as stilted or weird, I've always had problems expressing myself, whether it be textually or orally.

But that doesn't matter

So, as you might have noticed, it's been an absurdly long ammount of time since I last updated you guys on the state of the map. I think it's about time I do:

The map is like 80% complete, I just need to finish touching up the BLU area and rebalance some areas, I mean it this time, I'm extremely close to the finish line. This might seem weird considering I just said I'm taking a "break", but please bare with me.

I'm not the best with the hammer editor, if it wasn't already obvious, I struggle with the outdated UI, I suck at using inputs/outputs, I can barely use lights, etc.

So instead of stressing over the little details of my current map, I've decided to take a quick break from the map to try and actually get good with the program.

I'm making a simple, small, and compact little map inspired by a dream I once had.

I'll still keep you updated on the state of the map, and this'll only take like 2 days of my time at most, so it's not like I'm completely ditching Eaglestone in favor of some random liminal space map that'll get like 2 downloads on ModDB.

I promise I'll get the map done, just give me another wek.

Hey, all, Sargasm here, coming again to let you know that the project isn't dead :P

In this edition of "Sargasm talking to ghosts", we find that old Sargasm has no concept of game balance as he makes the map horrendously Eagle-sided and therefore BLU-sided.

Yeah so, the "Town" point (or whatever I called it) in my original map was already kind of garbage, I'm not even gonna try to pretend that I knew what I was doing, and trying to copy and paste it to TF2 has led me down the Balance Rabbit hole and to be perfectly honest it sucks.

The only mildly balanced point in the original version was the middle because it was literally just the ravenfield equivalent of the 2fort bridge with very little cover, so that's already a bad, a non-good, some might say, and Town was somehow even worse. Imagine a circle of sandbags with a capture point that has like 20 rocks on one side and absolutely nothing on the other, that's how one-sided Town was.

So, yeah...this is gonna take a while.

Hey, it's me again.
Sorry I haven't been updating you guys for the last few days, to be perfectly honest this last week has been absolute garbage for me health-wise, just disease after disease.

Now, I'm not gonna bore you with all the neato mosquito details, but basically, I got a fever in the middle of summer because turns out 40° Celsius is not the optimal temperature for functioning as a human being, ended up stuck in bed for 3 days straight.

But yeah, just wanted to let you know.

Alright, I think it's time to give you guys an update of what I've been doing, which is practically nothing so far, since most of it has been theorical because how the hell do you port a ravenfield map into tf2? It's literally never been done before, and that's the main problem.

If you couldn't tell from the past announcement Ravenfield is much more in line with the call of shooties we all know and...acknowledge the existence of... and that's the big problem.
Ravenfield is super fast paced and engagements are typically more up-close and personal, you'll almost never run into a sniper rifle, even in map with humongous sight lines, because of the way the AI works.
In TF2, even without bots there's usually at least one or two snipers per round, no exceptions, it's just how the game's played, and that's only one of the problems I didn't think about when I made the map originally.

I've been analyzing both TF2 and Ravenfield maps to see how I can fix this and make everything fall more in line with TF2s map design, and it's proven to be rather helpful.
You'll have to understand that it takes a long time for me to make maps, the original already took an ungodly ammount of time, and now I'm trying to "definitive edition" it, plus I'm a big perfectionist, so I tend to take my time and be VERY careful with these kinds of projects.

On a brighter note, I believe I've got enough work done to release a bare-bones dev textured version of the map that you'll be able to play VERY soon.

And now back to bad news: I've got a massive headache and I'm feeling rather feverish, so if I don't post anything tomorrow, you can safely consider me dead!
