A recent security issue has cropped up involving Steam URLs and web browsers.

Using this vulnerability with the Steam client a hacker can run malicious code on a target's machine. This vulnerability effects both PC and Mac versions. All browsers, including the Steam browser are effected.

The issue can be limited by disabling the steam:// URL handler or using a browser that doesn’t allow the direct execution of the Steam Browser Protocol.

Valve hasn't said anything about this yet, but some of the exploits appear to have been fixed.
