Escrow - A New "Feature" Posing A Major Threat To Trade

The Escrow update IS NOT A HOAX, it is currently live on the website, though it is not in full effect yet.

This hurts everyone. So many users do not have smartphones, most of whom will not buy one to play csgo. Prices will also crash most likely, if half the userbase leaves due to a 7 day trade lock, who will be around to pay premium prices for your skins?

Not only this, but a multi-million dollar group of websites related to tf2, csgo, and steam in general will go under. This would include csgolounge, csgojackpot, csgoegg, opskins and countless of other websites, unless someone highly innovative figures out how to code bots that can use mobile confirmation (this would be hard as hell).

To those of you still confused by this whole deal, or unsure of what is going on, I am going to quote a post on reddit.

"This will apply if EITHER user doesn't have the mobile authenticator enabled. This text appeared in the javascript, but it doesn't seem to be live yet.

From the javascript:

'What is Escrow?', After a trade has been accepted by both parties, if either party's account has not been secured by the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator, then to protect against unauthorized trades, the traded items will be placed in escrow. During the escrow period, the items will not be available to either user. This allows users who have not secured their accounts to cancel any unauthorized trades and recover their items. Canceling all pending and in-escrow trades will place a trading hold on your account for a few days to prevent any further unauthorized attempts to trade away items.

This dialog can be activated by typing ShowEscrowExplanationDialog() into your browser's JavaScript console while on your inventory page.

This will ruin trading, especially community trading sites.

Edit: This just appeared in the trade offer API: "escrow_end_date": 0"

TL;DR: Steam is adding a "escrow." Basically, if one person who trades items via steam to another user is not using mobile authentication, the trade has a cooldown until it goes through, which would destroy trading and a number of community sites.
