Welcome to the official realism unit steam group of the 8th Infantry Division. We are a retired elite Day of Defeat: Source realism unit that was founded in 2008 and operated until 2014. Our Drill Instructors kept a strong hold on discipline while our NCO's kept the unit well informed and trained, and our Officers kept the unit well organized. Although we strived for discipline, we also looked to have fun and build strong bonds. The 8th was more than just a realism unit, it is was a community of friends and as tight as a family.

The 8th ID Day of Defeat: Source realism unit is also historically known for its sophisticated focus on competitiveness and realism tactics. The unit is known for being a haven for players that took part in the competitive aspect of the game such as professional league play.

The 8th ID went on to win two championships in the United Warfare Realism League having won back to back consecutive tournaments. No other unit has won as many championships as the 8th ID.

Key members of the 8th ID included soldiers such as Steiner, Wakefield, Anliker, Schneider, Ross, Svizz, Hughes, Assmus, Francis, Pulse, Curry, Payne, Evans, Manley, Marsh, McCoy, James, Surbey, Rupert, Sadowski & Kaiser. These were the soldiers that were most often in the inner circle at the top of the unit and all played an instrumental role in the unit achieving its legendary status.
