2016 – First private cheat clients began implementing real fake lag features, allowing players to delay packet flow intentionally.

2017 – Fake lag becomes more refined and widespread, featured in popular cheats like Gamesense, Onetap, and Aimware.

2018+ – Fake lag becomes a core HVH mechanic, giving rise to advanced exploits such as:

Lag peek abuse – Peeking while invisible to the enemy's interpolation.

Break LC (Lag Compensation) – Skipping server-side movement tracking.

Adaptive fake lag – Dynamically adjusting choke for maximum desync.
