Boring. Dull. Scary if you find doing tedious work with little instruction and no context scary, but ive had a job

Before going into the review: Yes, I'm here because of Mandalore Gaming.

But even before watching his review, the game caught my eye and his video convinced me to buy it. So....what did i get? Well, it was definetly an experience. This is the segment where i would describe the plot, however i won't do that, because: A) The game is like 1 hour long, maybe even less, and mentioning anything feels like a spoiler and B) I didn't know what the hell was going on most of the time. All i can say is that there is something about videotapes and being an assasin. This is kind of like one of those artsy surealist movies like I'm Thinking of Ending Things or Eraserhead, where your supposed to observe and make up your own interpretation. And you know what? It's not bad. It's fun to piece things for yourself and i even made my own theory of what's going on, though probably different from what developers intended.

What shines the most is the Audiovisual aspect. Paratopic is inspired by late 90's 3D games, and while this aesthetic is acquired taste, i think it does a great job, giving it uncanny, eerie feel. the soundtrack is a mix of synth and ambient, which adds to this titles dreamlike quality. Another interesting element is the weird slightly robotic nonsensical speech, which sounds like Shodan having a stroke.

It's important to note, that this game has zero gameplay, which can be an instant turn off. However, as someone who played plenty of these walking sims, i think this is one of the better ones, along with What Remains of Edith Finch, Abzu and Vanishing of Ethan Carter. So, do i recommend it? Well, yeah, but with an asterisk. Paratopic is completely different beast. Not only it flips middle finger to those craving a gameplay, but also kinda to the walking sim crowd. Other games of it's genre are trying to tug at your heartstrings or present some beautiful scenery. This one is harsh, Off putting and the green hue makes it look like it crawled out of the sewer. It definetly won't be for many their cup of tea, but i found it intriguing. It's a unique experience with a very limited appeal.

just kinda eh, good ambience but it does nothing with it. it there was more it would be good but it builds up skips the climax and shows the ending. Just feels like it shows you several paths you could take if there was a full game here but there isn't. I'd like this to be better.
