Kinda weird mesh up of genres / style. Simple platformer game with cartoon graphics on one side (appealing to children) and adult humour on the other side. Other than that it is a decent platformer with great adult jokes

This has to be one of the worst platformers I have ever played, which is really unfortunate considering how much I like everything about it that isn't platforming. People have been comparing this to Conkers bad Fur Day and Spyro, but honesly the gameplay and levels reminds me much more of Psychonauts than anything. The controls for this game are extremely slippery and there are parts of this game where you cannot even see your shadow. In other words, depth perception doesnt exist in this game either. It's like they took all the basic fundamentals of what makes a good platformer and said "we don't need that."


The final straw for me was meandering my way through a level about 3/4 way through the game only to find out I don't have a specific upgrade needed to finish a level. Levels don't have shortcuts and are pretty long and tedious in general - so in order to get that upgrade, I would need to go back through the leave the level by going through it backwards, go to an entirely different hubworld (there are 4) find that upgrade (ram horns) and then make my way all the way back to the third hubworld, find my way back to the level entrance, and then do the entire level over again just to beat it. I already wasn't enjoying this game but this was it for me. This progression style is extremely odd and doesn't exist in other platformers to my knowledge. The idea they would even allow you to get into the level at all without that upgrade is incredibly baffling.

Regarding depth perception, levels such as the forest-nightclub have platforms where your shadow doesn't even show up. For those who have never played a platformer before, typically to know where you're going to land developers will place something like a shadow below you so you can perceive your depth relative to the ground. This game already has a really weak and barely noticeable shadow, but on certain levels its not there at all.

Usually, what makes a good and well received platformer is tight and responsive controls. When controlling mario, for instance, he will move quickly relative to your inputs, and will stop moving quickly when you stop inputting anything. Unfortunately your character in this game will be slip-and-sliding all over the f*cking place. This coupled with the fact you cant see precisely where you're going to land on most of the dark levels (everything but the beach levels) you're going to be dying a lot.

Additionally, theres been a bug in this game since launch that prevents you from actually collecting all the items. And of course, me already not loving this game, I encountered it. I thought "well i might as well get my moneys worth by 100%'ing the damn thing" only to find out I cant! how lovely is that. A collecta-thon with a prominent bug preventing you from collecting. (the bug has to do with the radioactive monster in the first major hub world)

I can't believe this game has this many positive reviews. Terrible game honestly.

I thoroughly enjoyed the dark humor and quirky theme.

However, the platforming was awkward and frustrating. The game would have benefited with more polish on the levels and platforming mechanics.

Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this game. The core gameplay was lacking and made the experience unsatisfying.
