mouse isnt working in game. anyone know how to fix this please?

Im interested in modding and i remember this game thanks to its nice effects and sprites For testing purposes i would like to extract some so i can learn how certain explosion frames look (to learn how to replicate them) its pretty hard to follow in game as it wont even allow me to take screenshots in a regular manner...
