A Plague Tale Innocence is a casual 3rd person adventure game that has a flawed high end PC implementation. The game was ran on an intel 13900k CPU and a Nvidia 4090 GPU. It was ran at 4k resolution with maximum graphic settings enabled. No system crashes occurred or crashes to desktop. No Hardware compatibility issues noted. One play through was done to full completion of game and steam achievement perfection was attained.

Subjective interpretation

I had a rather painful experience with this game as it has many issues that negatively impact the players experience. The most glaring of which is the games functional stability. There were an enormous amount of bugs in this game! All of them were caused by one single issue and that is the soft wares instability caused by higher than 60 FPS frame rates. This issue is not apparent from the start and leaves the player in a perplexed state as to why they are experiencing soft locks and game mechanic issues. Most of the soft locks actually are non repeatable and infrequent. They resolve upon loading a save generally. I dismissed these as bugs, but eventually I could not progress through the game as I encountered a soft lock that could not be resolved. I actually had to research as to what was occurring and discovered the fps issue with this title. This was extremely frustrating as there is no in game fps limiting slide bars/setting. You have to limit the frame rate by a means outside of the software. Such a game breaking experiences, yet no internal means to resolve them puts the game in a fundamentally broken state. If I had knowledge of this issue from the start my game play experience would not have been impacted as the fix is rudimentary. This is unacceptable for a 2019 game and very unacceptable by contemporary standards.

The other aspects of this game were tepid at best. The acoustical design of this product was decent as the music fits the setting very well and immerses the user into the despondence/sadness that defines this narrative; however, the English voice acting lacks emotional investment. This is important for this type of story telling and I wholeheartedly recommend to players to switch from English to French voice acting as the emotive reactions by the characters feels more genuine. The narrative does provoke sadness in the player as tragedy is a frequent theme in the title. This is an exemplary feature to the narrative, but the plot of the story itself feels asinine at times. The graphics are remarkable, however if player delves deeper into the world that is being graphic projected they will start to perceive the ugliness of poorly implemented textures, model clipping and frequently reused assets. Distant perspectives are beautiful, just don't look too close and walk away after first glance. The overarching art design is decent and as an art form this game succeeds at satisfying an aesthetic craving. The game play is uninspiring and the short length of this game is actually a positive feature rather than negative as the player most certainly would experience monotony if this title dragged on for too long. This game is a very casual play and its difficulty for a more weathered gamer is trivial. The price is not right for this game and I would only recommend a purchase at 5$ and lower.

I did not find joy in the plague suprisingly

An interesting one-time cinematic story with some gameplay. No option to disable aim assist pissed me off at first, but It is neither shooter nor stealth, guess it will do.

It's not a open world. It's scripted all along.

Beatrice runs out in the open and ends the game for me every time. Backtrack to checkpoint results in the same. lol. 0/10

Gameplay molto semplice e basilare però coinvolgente. Storia discreta con qualche lacuna. Gioco sui "binari", ma tutto sommato è un buon gioco. Si lascia giocare molto volentieri. Al momento di questa recensione ho appena finito tutta la storia e come si può vedere è un titolo abbastanza veloce.
