Additionally, the ability to zoom out further on both the world map and within the city would be a welcome improvement. A wider view could help in strategizing and planning, making it easier to manage the colony and anticipate challenges.

Despite these minor issues, "Surviving the Aftermath" remains a highly recommended game for those who love survival themes and strategic gameplay. Its challenging mechanics, combined with an absorbing storyline, provide a satisfying and rewarding experience that will keep you engaged for hours. Whether you are strategizing over resource management or navigating through the narrative twists, this game promises a thrilling adventure in the aftermath of catastrophe.

It bothers me the developers didn't play this game to catch the small issues and fix them. It is fun little builder but certain things they should have/need to fix. such as trauma centers and people having nervous breakdowns. I had 15 people and 11 of them had the nervous breakout icon on them. I had 4 trauma centers but nope.. trauma centers take too long to heal so the people go crazy in town and I have to kill them. Then more survivors join the town, see the crazy people I had to kill, and they go crazy too. It is like a disease that there is no cure for but keeps spreading. Also too much pollution in the build area. I need resources to grow but can't get them because pollution is clumped together which means more aggro insects. Also, Outhouses don't cause pollution. It is just common sense things involving survival the developers did not even think about. Crops cause pollution? Ugh not if done naturally and correctly.

It's SimCity meets Fallout. Rebuild civilization one starving, irradiated survivor at a time. Unlike other Paradox games, Surviving The Aftermath (StA) is easy to learn and navigate. This has to be the first Paradox game I've seen with a tutorial. Paradox is still a few decades away from figuring out how to include a player's manual.

That said, the graphics are nice. Having to zoom the camera a lot makes it difficult to have a game with the highest resolution graphics but StA does a good job. The UI is simple. This is a huge plus with me. Like all city building games, terrain and resource layout will drive urban planning. So, players are free to experiment with various layouts. This drives replay-ability. Getting all the resources one needs to make buildings can be a painful process, though. Sometimes, a tall, cool glass of patience is needed.

If games like SimCity, City Skylines or Tropico are your thing and you want to add in the whole Fallout or Last of Us vibe then this is your game!
