Two player same screen or split screen?

Just bought this game, and, upon lauching through steam, the game crashes before the start screen...any help would be appreciated.

No people playing it...? :/

The game is listed as a single player game in the store page, yet trying to play solo is a horribly frustrating experience because the enemy spawns aren't balanced for that. What's the point of trying to hold an objective while getting swarmed by ten plus enemies who can kill the player in just a few shots? If I wasn't being forced to complete the objective I wouldn't have an issue with this, as I could dodge their shots, but having to stay in that tiny space while getting peppered with explosives and snip...

Devs please fix that issue.
