This is a game that controls unlike any other I've played. I recommend it for those looking for a challenge where an unorthodox control scheme is the point (e.g. Getting Over It, QWOP, etc.).

I gave up after 7 hours, which I felt was more than sufficient to give it a chance. While I appreciate that some people love the challenge of a difficult game until it clicks, I never got there on either controller or keyboard, regardless of easy or hard controls mode (ironically, I found hard controls to be easier). There wasn't enough of a sense of progression to justify the rage inducing deaths that kept occurring. However, I could have dealt with that if not for the following 3 issues:

1. Unskippable cutscenes
2. Collectible progress is not saved without continually circling back to the last activated checkpoint. If you forget, progress is reset and you have to do it all over again. Because the checkpoints are few and the snake moves slow, half the time is spent trying to beat the challenges and the other half is spent going back and forth. This is just tedium for the sake of it.
3. Most unforgivable, when you're slithering into tight spots or up and around the level, the camera will move seemingly at random or get stuck behind objects, obscuring the view of your character. I found myself having to readjust the camera constantly while controlling the snake. For a game that requires absolute mastery over its controls, this more than any other point made me decide it wasn't worth it.

Get it if you want to prove you can beat something that's intentionally hard, but even if you get good at moving the snake, the aforementioned points might still sour you to the experience. Until you get to the point where you can reliably traverse levels without dying, the game is more frustrating than fun.

Underrated

I could definitively see child me biting a controller over this.
Controls aren't frustrating, they're difficult to learn! You have to go very slow outside of just moving, this is a platformer that requires a lot of patience. Amazing twist on your usual platformers tho
