Simply masterpiece. Just for new players, its IMPORTANT to set pride aside and play on normal difficulty first. Then feel free to try higher difficulty on later play through. The game needs at least three play through anyways to get better ending. So put pride aside and use the first one for getting used to run.

Gameplay (so far) has been varied and quite enjoyable and combat feels tight and responsive. HOWEVER, the bizarre design decision to make people replay the first hour of the game if they die even once during that time (and there's an annoyingly challenging boss fight at the end of the first hour) is classic Japanese game design lunacy. SMH

Somehow the Japanese developers believe that unless something is challenging, it can't be fun. So pass their weird challenge you must, before you can save the game. Eastern game design has always been "You'll play it the way WE want you to play it, the hell with your life or schedule. Our games are Art!" It's annoying and shortsighted, in my opinion.

NOW, all that being said, I have to give props to these devs too, at the same time, because they smartly allowed players to adjust difficulty so that the first hour isn't ridiculous. Not everyone has mountains of free gaming time to grind away at something NOR does every player find enjoyment in that type of gaming experience. The idiots at From Software would do well to learn from these devs in this regard. Allow players to adjust difficulty so that they'll, you know, actually be able to fully experience your game and its story.

This is a definitely recommendation (so far, I have a ways to go with this one still) if you can stomach the annoyance of having to beat the first hour without any kind of save. In that regard, it's clear that this game's console roots are showing - among the (many) annoyances that console gaming has foisted on the gaming community, a lack of Save anywhere points is possibly one of the most egregious and stupid.

Despite all that, this is probably an 8 or 9 out of 10 with the caveat that you have to be prepared for the bizarre intro hour.

This game is a transcendental experience. An experience of love and heartbreak. I have several hundred hours playing this "thing" and achieved all 27 Endings on multiple platforms, multiple times. The first game ever which made me cry.

Also prevented me from committing s*icide lol. Been 3 years already.

Still to this day, one of my all time favorite games!
It got an amazing story, it looks absolutely beautiful, I love all the characters and interactions and the soundtrack?
Absolutely amazing. So many amazing songs in this game, such a great atmosphere, very well worth it!
Yes it does have a bit of stuttering in cutscenes here and there, due to not running perfectly smooth, as a console port, but to me, that didn't matter at all and it almost never showed. Definitely play through all the main endings too! There is like half the most important story behind "multiple" playthroughs!
