As somebody who doesn't even really like fantasy or DnD that much, I can say I was really put off of the idea of trying this game for the longest time. I'm glad I changed my mind.

Planescape: Torment is one of, if not THE BEST written CRPGs. It stands on its own. There is more backstory and depth in the writing of a lot of characters in this game, than you will find in the ENTIRETY of most RPGs made today.

If you like Baldur's Gate 3, go back and try this. As janky and old as it is, it's so much fun just reading the backstory and lore of the world and characters.

Combat is the only place where the game struggles. It doesn't quite hit the spot, going for a blend between turn-based and real time combat, it ends up feeling very game-y and sometimes a bit frustrating.
My recommendation is to play a MAGE. It will simplify things and make the game far more enjoyable. Not only that, the spells in this game are very spectacularly animated, some even have entire cutscenes.

When you look up classic video games, this one should certainly be at the top of the list, basically it's own novel, or series of novels. 10/10.
