AWFUL game. I'm determined to get through it because I loved the first two games and I wanna play The World before. But the entire experience is rage inducing. The controls are the worst I've ever come across. It's based on camera perspective, which shift frequently and erratically, so you might end up running right back into the area you came from. Not only that, but for some reason, sometimes turning is like turning a super tanker. It's like the control input has to run through mud before being interpreted by the game. And not only that, but sometimes the camera will just... drift, like it's being controlled by someone with raging unmedicated ADHD who just saw a squirrel in the opposite direction if where you're running.

As if the controls weren't bad enough, the voice acting is terrible, the story is so boring and the character design is just drab. Oh, and did I mention the bugs? I managed to soft lock the game because I clicked too fast on a thing after having already clicked on it. Game-breaking stuff, as we all know. I saw a video where someone managed to soft lock the game before even getting out of the main menu. "But so what?" you say. "You can always just reload." You'd think so, but you'd be wrong. Because apparently manual saving was too hard of a nut for the dev team to crack, so there's only autosaving. "Well, then it must at least be frequent, right?" Again, you'd think so, but no. The very thing that prompted me to leave this review before even finishing the game was realizing that the interactive spots have stopped working unless I'm moving, but that moving cancels the click, but when I go to load, I REALIZE THAT IT HASN'T SAVED SINCE BEFORE THE LAST BIG CUTSCENE. We got to a new area and everything, Major plot movement. But save? Naahhhhhhhhh. That's for wimps.

Seriously. Don't play this game. You need to have copious amounts of patience and nostalgia for the first games and if you have anything resembling high blood pressure, I suggest you write a will and say goodbye to your loved ones. Play something more relaxing instead, like Cuphead or Dark Souls.

I like the Syberia series, but it lacks enough clues to complete it without help.

This review is not for the game, but rather for the state it's in. As of now, my whole 80 minutes of the experience was trying to solve a bug, that didn't allow me to complete pretty much the very first action of the game - open a door. Apparently it is a very widespread bug, where the interactive "spots" simply disappear, which makes progressing impossible. After tinkering with the game for some time, reading a bunch of forums and simply restarting the game 3 times from the beginning, I gave up.

It's a bummer really, because I thoroughly enjoyed the first two entries of Syberia, and was willing to give it a fair shot despite a ton of criticism I've seen online. I also hate to give a bad review to a game without properly trying it out, I wouldn't leave the review had the issue not been so widespread, but since it is, be advised that there are a bunch of game-breaking bugs. I'm just glad I encountered mine at the very beginning.

I am also willing to give it another shot on some other system some other time (mine was MacBook Pro M1 with some Homebrew adjustments via Terminal to get the game to launch in the first place), so if this allows me to actually experience it properly at some point, this review may change in the future.
