There are 2 compounding issues with it: First, that thing always hovers higher than your head, so in 3 high tunnels it's always clipping into the ceiling and completely useless. Second, the actual light source is even higher than the orb itself and to get proper brightness from it you need at least 7 blocks high ceiling, more if it decides to float higher.
