I've spent a ton of time on this game over multiple consoles over the years and have loved it for so long so it sucks to see how snailgames destroyed this game, The release of Aquatica genuinely ruined this game, nothing works the way it used to it made 90%of mods unplayble and was a huge cashgrab to begin with. SnailGames released this DLC to destroy the game and force fans to buy acsended which is just a trashy thing to do, I will miss this game truly and it sucks that they ruined it completely just from some extra cash.

Just copying "Ka4nar" review since can't say better myself and fully agree with every word, all credits go to him.

Great buggy game.

Lost all save data, Thanks Aquatica. How about never update ever again.

Day 1 : Girl drugged me, pooped on my body and called me a noob. Several days later, I come across a small pond with a Megalodon in it. I make a small offering here and there, the Megalodon and I bond. He says he will offer me great power for a human sacrifice. Day 16: I track down the girl who had once defecated on my face. I see her attempting to tame a Stego. I sneak up on her. Load her with 30 drug berries, kill the Stego she is taming, poop on it's body. Drag her lifeless corpse back to Lord Megalodon, he seems pleased. I drag her to the beach. Add 10 more drug berries, just to make sure she is helpless. I throw her body in with Lord Megalodon. He seems pleased, but he requires more. I begin my hunt again. 10/10

I spent like 5 years of my life on this game.. from mobile,xbox, and pc.. sad how i see my favorite game die infront of my eyes..

TL;DR: A very fun idea that's a terrible co-op experience, not because of other players, but because the game is fundamentally broken. Long loading times, crashes, and connection issues vary WIDELY from person to person, not to mention controller integration is perfectly fine for some and garbage for others.

Say you, like me, want to just play on a server with one other friend and you both want to run some mods that make the game less brutal because you're just here for a fun dinosaur time with some survival aspects. Not having played the game since 2018, you're in for a bad time. It is possible to spend a collective 24 hours over a weekend reading forums, installing a server manager, and opening about 4 different computer settings windows to try and run a personal, private server only to find out it's impossible without port forwarding or exactly the right VPN that takes care of it for you. Why? Because this game is make out of p-ss sh-t and c-m and just play doesn't work like that- screw you that's why. Non-dedicated sessions tether you to your partner and often times offer long load times and connection issues because your firewall hates using the ports ARK wants and makes it a you problem to figure this out.
If you're used to games just working in this day and age, this is going to be a massive shock to you; this game does not want to work the way anything else simply does. Games made by a single person (Stardew Valley) and games made by small studios (Palworld) all connect multiplayer seamlessly, while this is absolutely anything but. This isn't even mentioning anything going on with the new expansion by a new studio that's apparently massively borked, but I just wanted to play the base game, so have not been following that.
If you for some reason want to try this game, know you should get it on a massive sale and if you want to play singleplayer, the game may still take an egregiously long time to load for no defined reason, even if you turn your graphics down. And it might crash at any given time so that you have to load it all over again :)
