I feel compelled to clarify some things here! I see some reviews stating they dont like this game because of the energy system, well its how these kind of games work, you leave a negative review of a game but in truth you dont like the genre and not the game itself, thats kind of unfair. Most of them reviews where posted at about 2 or 3 hours playing time so i would like to point out that if you did have the patience to let the game unfold a little you would see that very soon new mechanics would be introduced making it much easier to replenish energy!!
That being said the game is actually one of the better games of the genre with deep crafting and exploration mechanics that are obviously well developed, also there are many different things you can do witch set it apart from other games of this type.

"California Escapades" is a nasty Chinese MTX infested Farmville ripoff made for mobile phones and dumped here on Steam as a cash grab by greedy mobile devs hoping to scam PC gamers into paying cash money just to play a garbage Facebook app. Ugh.

This has some really mediocre looking graphics that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarly visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises.

This isn't really free as the game is infested with mobile app store like microtransactions. This is a consumer hostile model that we don't need to see on PC. It's deceptively priced to gouge gamers, and that's a reason in itself to avoid this.

Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it?

Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.

Note: This mobile app features a number of suspicious, likely fake positive reviews. The reviews all appear at almost exactly the same time, within 24 hours of launching on Steam, all in simplified Chinese, and all have very similar wording and writing style. Immediately after this huge peak of reviews, reviews (and player counts) for the game dropped incredibly sharply. This is highly unusual given the very low quality of the game and poor player counts. The ""Positive"" review score on this mobile app should be taken with a large grain of salt.
