no, just no

I wanted, and tried, to like AoM (such potential, and the reboot Saints Row is fun, didn't deserve its enmity, although, it SHOULD have had its own name). Halfway through, and, flat out, HATE THIS. I WAS loving it for a while...

At first. I didn't understand the awful reviews - it was FUN... Then, realized (fourth time through the same, exact lair, including what the Big Bad says, as part of yet another cookie-cutter mission) almost all of the missions were just the side activities (again) with a cartoon cut-scene, but, worse, between them is so much STUPID (like, have to jump up onto floating platforms to disable computers on them, despite shield-piercing abilities, or seek clues by going through multiple, flagrant traps before just using intel an NPC already had). SO much of it is ill-or-un-thought-out, and annoying to boot (f'n alarms or god-awful pop/rap loops blaring for whole fights, for example).

It feels like a side-scroller you can go backward in to re-loot, no real options (other than cosmetic) or choices involved. The challenges ("Contracts," as they call them) just reset repeatedly and have awards less than some random chests. The Agency itself maxes level partway through its XP, so, that becomes an irritant, not just no reward, but, pointlessly refused progress (that didn't matter at all for the last two levels already). The automatic retaking of outposts by Legion is not enjoyable, either.

I'll probably at least try to continue (then, update this if at all improved) in the hopes that it balances better, maybe I took essentially a bad route in building my whole team first. However, odds as I see them are really low, and right now, I'd rather chew on my own foot.

We have a delightful theory on who might be behind Legion and why, but, am not sure if I'll ever see whether they went that way for myself...
