Hello players,


We have some important news regarding our 16 BIT NIGHTS company's future.


The game has been released. We also provided a series of updates after release, and the game is now rock solid with a very positive rating.
Unfortunately, the actual sales were under our expectations, and my partner and I had a lot of arguing regarding this, so we decided to "part ways," which brings me to the next point.

My partner will work on a new game without me. He will use the artwork I made for previous Chromosome Evil/Welcome Back Commander games, and he will also use the 16 BIT NIGHTS branding for publishing, so even though we parted ways, we are still working together to some extent.
He plans on experimenting with co-op multiplayer within an extraction squad-based type of gameplay.
More details soon.


I will also work on a game, but I don't want to give out spoilers yet other than it will be a new IP with unique squad-based gameplay.
I will also be working on this one with a new partner.
In addition, this year, I will also try to focus more on our YouTube channel and make full playthroughs of our games with commentary.


In collaboration with Real Heroes Studio, we would like to announce a big demo update on Desolated District on 27 April.
This is a fresh take for us since it's our first project as a collaborative effort with another developer studio. We have a minimal involvement rezumed to environment storytelling design, graffiti sprites, polish interface stage, design consultations, and marketing consultation.
The game is a 3D survival crafting with a nice magical touch within a Kowloon Walled City theme.

Hello Commander,


As we promised, HUGE update time with delicious extra content.

ROADMAP where we are now:

So yes, we did both step 2 and step 3 in this huge update.

OK lets move to the point, what is new:

Ballance:
- some minor balance adjustment
- Spider boss + 500 HP
- DEFCON 3 got + 1 more day
- DEFCON 1 got + 2 more days

Bugs:
- some small bugs
- morale bug on Spider boss
- repetitive maps

Loose Ends:
- replace spycam item unlock achievement with final engineer character unlock(the one with searchlights)

FINAL EXTRA CONTENT:
- Mausoleum Boss(DEFCON 3): inspired by ... can you guess the movie's inspiration + easter eggs? This map contains a big seek & destroy battle between your squad and an ancient evil, in addition to this you will also need to fight a mini-boss inspired from another famous zombie movie.
- Junkyard Boss(DEFCON 3): Flesh started growing on top of broken cars and started assimilating the junkyard turning it into a real obstacle course. Destroy it now or face the consequences later.
- Ambush 1 scenario(DEFCON 1): you must run through a DiscoClub building while being pushed from behind by a large swarm of infected
- Ambush 2 scenario(DEFCON 1): you are ambush from both sides and you must choose the direction you want to push in.


NOTE:
Please understand that such big updates may cause some new bugs, but don't worry, we are here. Report all critical bugs and we will fix them.



We also have many news regarding our brand but we don't want to end with bad news so we will keep the reveal for a later time.

Hello Commander,

We have read all the reviews and feedback, and it filled our hearts with joy to see we managed to make so many of you happy.

Because of this, we have made an important decision.

The new extra content of the game will not be released as a DLC.
Why?
I don't think it's fair to have the initial players who supported our game during the most critical game release phase to have to pay again.

We also don't want to raise the game price because we want this game to be as accessible as possible to everyone.



New roadmap commander:

How are we going to cut our losses?
Our losses are our own and it is not your responsibility to help us out.
So this is how we will do it:
We will release a very expensive 20$-25$ DLC in the form of an artbook, I will tell you by now, 20$ for an artbook is not worth it, and this is why this artbook will be TOTALLY OPTIONAL, it wont bring any value tot he actual game and it is simbolical only for the ones of you who still want to support our studio, think of this DLC as a sort of optional donation. No strains attached.

Now, on to the juicy part.
UPDATE TIME.

We added a lot of stuff that will test your tactical and survival abilities to the max.


Bug Fixes:
- Cannot see the interface because the unit panel does not disappear after I exit skilldex and crafting
- Unit with rifle cannot change it for sniper and LMG (normal 7.7mm weapon pool)
- Plant killing achievement not working
- CRASH: game crashed when pressing "next" button from the ending movie fast
- BUG: units have strange animation when switching weapons, this also happens after interaction
- Grenade launched shooting on the opposite side
- Turret upgrade on engineer shows +2Range +1Damage but in the stats bar it shows +Accuracy and +Range.
- The extraction grade does not match the spec bubble line from the ending movie
- Some units have the wrong loadout
- Steam achievement "Kill Destroy 100 infected." is not working


Ballance:
- Engineers encounter range cost, from 40 to 150
- Mission A and Mission B from end DEFCON 4, that vision custom reduced by 50%
- added final weapon balance(more firepower to some upgrades)
- added final balance for food cost per unit per day for each difficulty setting
- added re-ballance HP growth each defcon for all infected
- added re-ballance HP growth each defcon for tentacles(aggro 5 will now be a LOT more dangerous)
- added an additional 1 hunger penalty to the map: police station from DEFCON 4
- added an additional 1 hunger penalty to the map: tin can factory from DEFCON 4
- added + 1 AGGRO after extraction TD mission
- added + 1 hunger penalty after extraction TD mission


Extra content:
- 1 new morning event for DEFCON 5 (fast reward or long term reward)
- 1 new morning event for DEFCON 4 (reward vs penalty)
- 1 new morning event for DEFCON 3 (big penalty to one vs small penalty to all)
- 1 new morning event for DEFCON 2 (sacrifice epic moment)
- 1 new morning event for DEFCON 1 (pay or support the consequences)

Because we added so much new stuff, some new bugs may appear, but don't be afraid, we are here and we will crush all reported bugs.

Commander, hard times ahead, the new update is here.


Commander, get ready!





Bug Fixes:
- fixed some tooltips text
- on the final 2 bullets, the Grenade launcher will not select
- the engineer can still build barricades even if he got 0 materials
- i had 4 aggro and I could not select a choice for max aggro penalty


Major Ballance Update:
- The morning event that gives + 500 legendary components, adjusted to give 300 Legendary components
- added 10 more HP per DEFCON to normal zombies(should be 40 HP per defcon now)
- added 15 more HP per DEFCON to tentacles (should be 30 HP per defcon now)
- all common components loot boxes amount reduced by 10-15%
- all rare components loot boxes amount reduced by 25-40%
- some legendary components loot boxes amount increase by 10%
- precision skill damage bonus increased from 2 to 3 per level
- extra damage backpack upgrade, damage increased from 1 to 3
- extra HP upgrade increased from 5HP to 15HP
- 3 upgrades for the soldier helmet received, now extra bonus damage for ranged weapons


This list is not very long but it will have a major impact on the game balance.

Besides this one we will do one more update regarding balance, probably tomorrow morning so I will add here what will be added so I don't need to spam announcements:

Until Monday:
- weapon value changes
- infected gain more HP per defcon, different amount for all difficulties
- final tuning regarding the game balance


After this, we need to decide our studio's future, lots of delicate choices to be decided in March.

Commander, we salute you!

Time for another update.

Good news everyone, "Welcome Back, Commander" just got approved for steam Trading cards.

Special:
- 5 Trading Cards added
- 3 backgrounds added
- 5 emoticons added

Bug Fixes:
- Speech bubbles are missing from the ambulance on the warehouse map
- BUG: seif from Police Station 2 is not interactable
- motivation speech from camp choice, make it locked if all the units have full morale
- when trying to interact with seif engineer say "only an engineer can do that", it should say "only a soldier can do that"
- if you engage a zombie with the main weapon and then switch to grenade launcher he will shoot automatically risking all to die
- incendiary upgrade for grenade launcher does not set area on fire
- CRASH: Building a spotlight turret with the enlarged area of effect upgrade seems to cause the game to crash on the desktop.


Ballance:
- new encounter balance (enemy encounters and firetruck affected)
- add 15 HP per DEFCON stage to tentacles only


Polish:
- custom locked states for all buttons in camp so that you can also see the locked choices



Please let us know of any balance suggestions, we want to have the balance in the final state by the end of this month.
If you consider any weapon is too OP or to weak tell us.
If any enemy is too OP or to easy let us know.
If resources are to many or to few(currently I think we are going to reduce resources for components in next update because we noticed some people reach end of game with a LOOOOT of them, but if we are wrong let us know now)

Small update today


Bugs:
- class restriction tooltip removed
- on DEFCON 1 lock the extended day choice from camp by default
- the engineer can still build barricades even with 0 materials
- the LMG upgrade gives 20 damage instead of 20 ammo upgrade bug
- in the stats menu replace "Accurasy" with "Accuracy"

Ballance:
- the camp menu balance for heal
- the camp menu balance for the cure
- the camp menu balance for army support
- the camp menu balance for boot camp

Commander, the new week started.


Remember we said we want to push one more Big Update but no promises?

Well, we managed to deliver it, but no reason for us to take credit for it because without your current support, this would not have been possible since we still run on personal savings.


So what is new?


Bug Fixes:
- glitch: helmets and backpacks can be bought again and again to infinity
- rpg final upgrade gives the same thing
- BUG if you spam the reload key during reload you lose ammo fast and a lot.
- At the police station I crafted the environment turret but my engineer could not deploy now his own turret
- BUG: if select multiple units and press "r" to reload weapon they will all play reload animation and show reload icon but the actual weapons will not reload
- warehouse map sprite on top of story panel
- electronic shop the first 2 story panels are form a different mission
- bug, when you click on the border of skilled the + disappears
- HOTKEY not working: "Switch Weapon" and "Switch to hands"

Ballance:
- Ballance: add 15 more HP per DEFCON level for zombies
- In Cinema boss final room we only left 8 spiders
- camp encounters price balance

Text Updates Polish
- TEXT: update text from 7.7mm resource icon to: "7mm this ammunition is used by rifles, LMG, and engineer personal turrets."
- TEXT: update text from 9.9mm resource icon to: "9mm this ammunition is used by pistol, SMGs and environment Turret Boxes."
- TEXT: taski65.PNG replace this text with: "Level: current level of this character. Row 1 cost 1 skillpoint, row 2 cost 2 skillpoints and so on."
- TEXT: on workshop map "task166.PNG" replace "wait for" with "help"

New Crticial mechanic(the juicy part of the update):
- New Camp Menu. Now you can choose from all possible choices during the camp menu but only 1 per visit so it does not get too OP.

This new addition to the game affects the gameplay in a big way and some bugs might slept through but we are here, if you encounter bugs, tell us how to reproduce and we will smash them out of this world.


What is next:
- big balance adjustments
- bug fixes
- maybe a bit more extra content as a DLC or as a game update, but no promises, this one is again based on how much support we get so it's up to you.

Commander, this is just a small patch, the previous update was big and all big updates cause some new bugs, it is normal, and today's update is a fast fix for them + some other fixes


Bug Fixes
- BUG: engineer can interact with seifs objects at no outcome
- on the Greenhouse map bugged one plant on top of the network object
- CRITICAL: end DEFCON 3 scenario, eye buildings, and worm buildings are now invincible
- The mouth door also does not work anymore as intended
- BUG Timmy's hearts don`t count as destroyed after their health depleted.


Ballance
- Ballance: now, the bravery skill only replenishes 1 point of morale when leveled up similar to the hunger skill

Also, next week we plan on doing big balance changes, The first will be the random encounters with zombies, they will become a bit harder.
