if you liked ff13 you will probably not like this game. the additions to gameplay feel either superfluous or a side-grade from the first game, the story is significantly worse in how boringly unhinged it is, and to top it off this port is somehow even more broken than the 1st game

if you didn't like ff13 and could not care less about story you might enjoy this, port issues aside. even tho the combat in many ways is less interesting than the first game's, it at least throws you into fully featured combat within 10-20 minutes of gameplay. the overworld appears to be attempting to mimic xenoblade in structure, but unlike xenoblade there is still a battle map

In 2024 and with the obligatory community bugpatches, this game is... actually really good now. I was surprised. It's kind of like if FFXIII had minor Pokemon elements, and instead of forcing you down a linear hallway they went full T.A.R.D.I.S. and said "go wherever and whenever you want". I've always said that FFXIII's linearity and lack of Pokemon elements were its biggest faults. Well, not the latter but still.

You will have to download a patch that fixes the crashing issues. What I couldn't figure out was how to get rid of the stuttering I had throughout the game. Its truly a terrible port. I hope this gets either patched(lol) or more likely they'll remake it way on down the line. The game itself is fine and is a great continuation of the first. I think its way easier than the first one though.

So I would say play this after installing the fan patch as its a good time despite the way it runs.

This is one of my favorite FF games ever but the pc port is just hell to play without patching it, especially if you play on steam deck like me.

Besides that, I loved the characters, musics, gameplay and the story, everything was top notch for me except some difficulty spikes throughout the game (especially the last fight) but I had fun ! Definitely recommend playing this even if you didn't like 13, definitely worth it when you patch it 💯

The last human alive on earth is sent back to the past to change the future and save humanity together with a cute teeny looking older girl. Her older sister entrusts that you will take care of her no matter what, even from her husbando, while she watches over you two in another dimension. Defeat Not Sephiroth and live without worrying from the chocobos eventual slow fainting to the ground.

Game wont work at all if its on when you begin a save.

If you gave XIII a 5/10 or higher you will surely enjoy this game. Almost every aspect is improved upon but gameplay has the most pronounced improvements. The monster collecting element was really enjoyable and getting to blood sacrifice your old friends to improve your new ones is something I wish more games of the genre did.

There's a lot of complaints about the quality of the port which is justifiable, however sooner or later you have to accept reality. Patch installation, even the optional ones, takes at most several minutes.

My only one complaint is that despite installing every patch available my game crashed during the absolute final boss fight. So be aware that despite having an easy mode this game will expect you to get good.

On console a good game, on pc without question one of the worst pieces of crap ever released on steam.

- You need at bare minimum 3 unofficial patches/mods and a custom launcher to have even 1% chance of the game being playable

- You need another unofficial tool to "patch" the .exe because for some reason this was released on pc crippling itself to being limited to accessing a tiny amount of resources that would make the psp look like a powerhouse by comparison

- Launcher locks modern resolutions behind exclusive fullscreen and has no borderless window options

- 4 out of 5 shadow resolution settings are proven to cause the game to be so unstable it's literally unplayable

- 2 out of 4 anti aliasing options are proven to cause the game to be so unstable it's literally unplayable

- If you want the cosmetic DLC which is already present in the game files but inexplicably locked for pc you need yet another 3rd party patch tool

- The bulk of the DLC, which is accessible at any time on console is locked behind NG+ for us, so if you wanted to have lightning or sazh in your party, tough, you have to slog through the entire game before you are even allowed to set foot in the coliseum where you can then start playing the same fight over and over again hoping to get a character crystal that has drop odds below 4%

- The game has 2 different sound issues which depending on your OS may not be possible for you to work around

- One "fix" for performance issues requires going to device manager and disabling all HID- compliant devices, which most keyboards, mice and controllers fall under so this isn't a realistic work around in most cases

- Another performance "fix" requires turning off cloud saves, but since this game also has issues with local saves doing this means you can and will lose save files

- 9 out of 10 times it crashes when loading an area, which is something you have to do every 10 minutes because of this game's time travel gimmick

Ultimately the game was released in a literal unplayable state, square enix did not even pretend to care enough to fix a single one of the issues they caused and the community have attempted to polish this turd but they can only do so much, so even with half a dozen 3rd party tools, patches and fixes you still need to cross your fingers at every load,save,area transition, cutscene, fight start and fight end because it's not a question of if the game will crash, just a matter of when. I got this with a key for cheap, but even had this been sent to me for free, it's in such a ♥♥♥♥ state it would still be a rip off
