This is currently my favourite game (ok, got it recently and have a life, so didn’t clock many hours...yet). It scratches the exact itch I have. You have your base area where you are safe (other than when in nightmare), where you can do you “chores” like building/farming/crafting/fishing etc. You head out to find treasure and challenge. As you progress you take your base area with you and expand with new features. Combat was initially hard for me (I’m not good at it), so I soon started an “easy” save (it’s not trivial though!) - I’m already excited to start over with the default difficulty. Love the cooking/eating/attributes system (read the guide posted by the dev). Farming is “limited” but in a good way (I would cover the whole are with wheat otherwise). The animal handling (bees, rabbits and chickens) has a nice simple system. Storage/inventory system is a perfect balance - you have generous specialised storage (in places you’d expect and you can craft/use items from whenever in your base) and although your inventory isn’t unlimited, it’s not punishing or in your way. I feel that a lot of thought went into balance generally throughout. Nothing feels random but rather meaningful. You don’t have total freedom where things are in your base but it works for me as I’m always struggling with layout. Graphics is of course a matter of taste, but like what I see. UI is very polished, very comfortable to use. Music is great. I generally don’t like “raids” on my base, prefer where I decide where to meet danger but you can scale it down, where it’s not stressful and you know when they’ll happen - so I was surprised that it didn’t bother me. So far the fact that nothing respawns (as far as I could see) isn’t a problem at all (on the contrary - it makes you feel you "completed" an area). It’s not too grindy, but you can make it so if you like it.
I never write reviews but I’m so positively surprised by this gem that I hope more people will notice it and give it a chance.

Certainly a fun game and at a reasonable price.

The progression for stats is particularly interesting and engaging.

Combat is challenging though not overwhelming (normal difficulty).

And the developer is very responsive and helpful in making changes to the game to improve it.

Which is another reason to support small independent developers, and always great to see!

Overall it's already good and will certainly continue to get better.

And for the price you really can't go wrong.
