Version 1.5.0 Update

I want to thank those of you that have downloaded and played my first game. I turned 58 last week and this is the most fun I've had at a computer in decades I think.

I plan to keep added features and updates as I learn more in preparation for my second game. for now, here are the latest gameplay and feature updates.

Added Player Respawn in Level

2.5 second time delay on respawn where player is invulnerable.
Player respawns in the center of the screen instead of resetting the entire level when the player dies.

Added Homing Missiles

New homing missiles target UFOs from anywhere on the screen.
Homing missile earned at 20,000 points and each additional 20,000 points.
Fired with Gamepad (B) / Right mouse button / Shift key

Added “Death Blossom”

3rd weapon added to the ship (you old people know what it is)
Death Blossom earned at 75,000 and each additional 75,000 points.
Fired with the Gamepad (X) / Middle mouse button / Tab key

Bug Fixes

Fixed reset issue with speed
Fixed issue with points going up to infinity

Completed Items for version 1.4.6

New Enemies

New UFO target crosses the screen later in the game and random locations.
2nd UFO target crossed the screen and fires at the player and asteroids.
Replaced 1 level to keep more on ‘theme’.

Gameplay Improvements

Reduced rate that the speed increases to make it easier to live longer
Adjusted the way autofire affects other aspects of the game.
Scaled targets -10% to provide more player space and reduce overcrowding on some levels.

Added exit level (escape) button to the controller <select> button
Added pause level button to the controller <start> button
Added thumbstick turning and forward/reverse on the left/right trigger buttons.
Added new sprite updates for thumbstick / forward / reverse movement

We are now out of early release! A lot has gone in to learning how to program again and my first game is complete(ish).

Added in this version:

Bug fixes

Fixed issue with game not restarting properly in certain circumstances.
Improved volume setting graphics to make them easier to use/set.
Fixed audio level saving from instance to instance. (I think)

Control Updates

Added alternate game controls. WSAD / Mouse.
Added gamepad controls.
Added auto fire option

General gameplay improvements.

Completed Version 1.3 Updates:

The learning and growth continues. In this update you will find.

Improved gameplay:

better points scaling
Improved level randomization to reduce the chance of the same level happening 2x in a row
Added improved randomization to each level
Added high score tracking and resetting

Improved Audio

Added sound level controls for music and sfx. This seems to work 'most of the time'. If you see problems please let me know.
Added new sound effects for various events.

There is also more code cleanup in some areas, made it much worse in others. Hey, I’m learning here but getting better for an old guy.

the latest version of Meteor Havok is available for play!

In this release I have added several new levels to the game and changed the game logic to make the game have better repeatable game play with randomized levels and improved graphics.

Additional features include extra lives and better scoring progression.

I have also fixed multiple bugs and streamlined the source code to help improve game speed.
