Setting performance aside, this is a good chess game that I think is fun. Unfortunately, the amount of effort it asks from your system seems to be huge compared to the end result you're seeing, which looks good but not when compared to how hard your computer works for it. That being said, even on low graphic settings it still looks good, and I get 60+ fps on a weak RTX 3050. On max settings I would get between 15-24fps with my 3050.

As far as steam decks go, it's impossible to get more than a steady 20fps with the fan speed maxed out. Technically you can still play it like that but you probably won't want to. Otherwise it works fine though (at least when I tried with proton experimental today).

I will begin by saying that this game comes with several positive attributes. I enjoy the atmosphere of all of the locations and the different chessboards provided. I like the progressive system while working towards the higher levels. The game will rank each of your games and chart your performance using several different categories. There is a Multiplayer option. Tour mode is a welcome challenge, but I do not like trying to play against the computer when I cannot tell which piece is which. While I do understand that the pieces reflect the part of the world that the tour is taking place, I would still like the option of selecting the style of pieces for each match. The animations are acceptable and not over the top. A big drawback is the fact that you have to be careful when trying to move a Rook on the lower left hand corner. The developers need to relocate the Tactical option and the Menu option from the lower left corner. There have been several occasions where I accidentally select Tactical, when this was not my intention. I have only experienced one glitch during a recent game. The computer moved a Bishop totally off of the board and screen. This was followed by my Rook getting captured by the same Bishop, that somehow returned to the other side of the board.
Overall, I think that this is a good title for anyone seeking to learn Chess. I will give it a solid 8 out of 10.
