One of the coolest experiences I've ever had with AI generated content in a game. It's used in a way that's actually tasteful and leads to some of the most interesting gameplay if you're creative enough in your prompts, but can also be utterly broken. The AI isn't perfect and frequently creates passive effects on Gugs that have bugs and that's to be expected, though I do wish it happened less frequently. I feel like this isn't a problem that the developers can easily solve as much as it is a problem for LLM researchers, though.

Overall, it's genuinely the most clever, well implemented uses of an LLM I've ever seen. The only lame part is the image generation as it creates Gugs that frequently look too similar to each other with no special features relating to their description. I feel like it's a bit misleading that this game isn't considered early access as AI or not, the game itself lacks polish and has a buggy UI and I do hope the devs iron that out. There's also some parts of the menu that say [come back soon] that also denote the game being unfinished as of yet.

A tip towards anyone wanting to get into playing this but have a hard time generating Gugs that aren't terrible:

The AI doesn't have a great concept of balance and it seems the devs have weighted it to trying to make Gugs that aren't too powerful. If you prompt something as boring as soldier or killer you won't get many spectacular results. If you prompt it with words that belong to certain game mechanics, though... that's where things get crazy. You can for example use the phrase "enemy battlefield nuke" and it'll create a Gug that nukes ALL enemy Gugs on their battlefield. On the other hand, if you just say "battlefield nuke", the monkey's paw might curl and it will create a Gug that nukes your side, too.

EDIT: The game is definitely WAY too buggy not to be early access. The UI bugs so much sometimes you can't even start the game. There's just a lot of bugs in general that have nothing to do with AI and it's kind of a shame that they released it as a "full game" as is. in the few hours I've played as of this review there were so many bugs that prevented me from even properly starting runs. I still recommend this if you wanna get a few hours of fun for a cheap novelty and you might even get hundreds of hours but I can't call this a complete or even remotely polished experience.
