This game is charming, but it is pretty shallow in the moment-to-moment beat em' gameplay. Thinking of refunding for that reason. It feels like a lot of the game's budget went into the stage variety. Because it's basically 3 different games. You have the on foot beat em' up portion, the shooting Zord portion, and the Megazord punchout portion. The developer chose to use their time/budget to get all 3 of these to a decent standard for an all-round Power Ranger experience rather than go super hard on any one of them, and IMO this is a bit disappointing. I would rather the devs have focused solely on the on-foot combat. I can't tell you how disappointing it is to play as Zack (black ranger) and not be able to do any breakdancing or capeoira moves. He fights just like Jason and Billy. I experimented with all 5 starting rangers and they are all almost identical. You get 3 hits or so on your first few attacks, then a pop up attack, and a finisher. You can choose to press up+attack to follow the enemy in the air after the popup. Kimberly gets a starter longer range kick if you hold forward+attack, and some of the rangers have slides instead of jumpkicks as dash attacks, but this is only a cosmetic difference. Even the screen clear attacks are identical except for cosmetics...Zack uses ice, Jason uses fire, Billy uses electricity, etc. etc.

If you are looking for actual combat depth in a beat em' up, Fight N' Rage remains king, closely followed by Double Dragon Gaiden.

I was a big Power Rangers fan growing up and this game kinda bums me out. It hits the right notes in terms of presentation and giving you a sugar rush of "being a Power Ranger" with the trifecta of modes, but it fails to obtain even a modicum of depth in the most important part of a beat em' up experience... the fighting.

This game had a lot of potential; it could have been so much more. It would have been absolutely amazing to pull off Eddy Gordo-style capoeira with Zack, hard hitting karate punches with Jason, shoot people from afar with Kimberly's bow, pull off long-range combos with Billy's staff etc. Instead of Power Rangers, we get Clone Rangers. Sad.

I pre-ordered this game because I am such a sucker for power rangers and was super excited for this. I tried to cope through the negative reviews, thinking they were too critical, however they all are completely valid points.

• For $30, let alone $35, there should definitely be more content. I finished a full play through in 2 hours in-game. However, my first run was cut short by losing all of my continues then the save was lost, 75% of the way through. That leads me to my next point

• There should not be a continue system built into the different difficulties to begin with. I feel it contributes nothing to the game play, asides from keeping with the arcade machine theme. It is devastating to lose all your progress because of X reason.
  
• Dying should not drain your entire ult bar, if you're dying then your ult should help equalize the field in order to prevent you from dying again. As it stands, your ult when you don't die, is a "win-more" button.

• The beat 'em up game play is too slow, there is no reason your character should be waddling across the screen, while the putty are running across the screen. As many others have said, the default speed is when you get the power-up.
  
• The dodge mechanic works, sometimes. there is no reason for there to be a massive cooldown for dodging when there are 10 enemies on the screen, some of which are throwing projectiles at you. Most times, there is no way to dodge it without taking damage.
  
• The uppercut attack and grabs barely work, incredibly inconsistent. The bad grab mechanic is actually so detrimental to the game play. I would often get caught grabbing and then not be able to let go of the putty before I would get clobbered by the 8 other enemies.
  
• The green ranger fight was such a random, unneeded spike in difficulty. Not because it was hard, he had like 6 moves. More so because your character moves so slow in comparison and it was very difficult to get a hit in. Additionally, the green ranger moved like 2x your speed, so it IS possible to make your character move that fast, but it was a conscious decision to make them the current speed.

• The individual zord stages are UNBEARABLY bad to play.
  
• The small mini-game with the excavator and breaking the time crystal is so bad. There should not be instances where the fight takes place in the corner, with literally no visibility.
  
• Controllers have two joysticks, the game should use both. One for the zord driving, the other for aiming as having it both on the same joystick is not good at all.
  
• The fights with the megazords and are so poorly made too, like its either you're stun locked by the eye-guy or you're your plowing through the final fight

There's more issues and such that other people have brought up, but for the most part, these encompass the most glaring issues. I would love to change my review if the dev's change it up.

Played online for 2.6 hours with friends, because we wanted to give it a try despite the reviews; had a great time... until the game crashed, and there was no save, so all our progress was lost.

All the goodwill is gone.
