Demo Update & Participation in Steam's Chinese New Year Sale!

Demo Update:

New Things

After leveling up, you can hover over the icon of the statistic that increases with each level to see what it does.
A mini-tutorial upon entering the game.
When hovering over a keyword in the character or perk selection, its description is displayed.
When hovering over a character increment, its name and description are displayed.
Added cooking and alchemy.
Added Simplified Chinese language to the game.

Changes

Using the hoe and watering can gives 1 XP.
Backpack size increased from 32 to 48.
The value of items in the shop cannot be lower than their maximum selling value.
Visual rework of quests.
There is only one weekly quest, but you can choose between two options.
The quest now appears between days 2 and 5 instead of days 2 and 7.
Some UI elements have been graphically improved.
The sprites for stones and polished stones have been changed to avoid confusion with other items.
The volume of some SFX has been adjusted.
Totems have been removed.
Level thresholds have been adjusted.
The maximum starting energy has been reduced from 225 to 150.
Starting money has been increased from 150 to 200.
Big balance changes.
Added quantities to recipe tooltips, e.g., it now shows that smelting one sand produces three glass.

Bug Fixes

Corrected instances of incorrect text.
Resolved an exploit allowing unlimited animals in pens outside the camera area.
Buildings can no longer be placed outside the map boundaries.
Rent values now reset correctly between runs.
Fixed water rendering over buildings and trees.
Various tutorial-related bugs have been addressed.
Berry Jam Fix: Now restores energy and increases max energy.
Tool Energy Costs: Properly reduced when using Orange Juice.
Fixed an issue where quest choice appearances canceled the auto-harvest effect.
Leveling up a tool now displays the correct icon.
Selling Improvements: Items in the shop, building, and crafting tabs can now be sold by holding RMB (just like in the inventory).
Fixed a bug allowing players to gain two levels at once.

breaking things?

in the og afr you could break down buildings with your axe, but i cant do the same in this one. am i missing something? like is it a different mechanic or does the demo not have the mechanic entirely?

The perks available to choose from after leveling up depend on the player's level
New building category with 8 buildings

Changes

Bowl type - Resource -> Container
Starting backpack space 16 -> 32
Increasing backpack space for money has been removed
The perk Connections no longer increases backpack space; instead, it changes rent value by -5%
The perks Scholar and Traditionalist can be obtained at levels 2 and 3 instead of only at level 2
The perk Neo Diet also increases the amount of fertilizer produced by animals
When gaining or losing stats from quests, a text popup will appear

Bug Fixes

Cursor is visible again in the settings
The poison recipe displays correctly
The sheep icon has been fixed
The hitboxes of some buildings have been corrected
When selecting a genie and changing pages with classes, the game no longer crashes
Haste displays correctly in stats tab
The Fragility perk also changes the HP of what spawns after taking it, such as stumps
The Hungerless perk also changes the lifespan of current animals in the fence
The Magic Tools perk now upgrades a random path instead of always the first one
Events that deduct experience now subtract it correctly
The event Catch 100 fish now increases building time as a reward instead of decreasing it
The event Bake 25 fish now increases craft requirements instead of decreasing them
The event Build 2 Fences now correctly requires 2 fences instead of 1

Changes

After clicking the menu or exit button, a confirmation prompt appears asking if you're sure you want to proceed
The background color and some sprites from the swamp and mountains have been changed
The recipe and sprite of the mine have been changed
Confirmation prompt before ending the day if energy is unspent
When attempting to craft something with a full backpack, a message now appears indicating that the backpack is full
Sprinkler has a watering animation
The descriptions for the scarecrow and beehive have been fixed
The spawn of breakables in the mountain area has been improved
The Sell button is also in the shop
There are now icons on the side that allow you to open the interface
Tree time growth 7 -> 6
Preserved Pumpkin uses 6 -> 4
Genie haste per level 5% -> 2%
Starting Money 100 -> 150
Grass chance 35% -> 50%
Grass price 3-6 -> 3-5

Bug Fixes

Reaching level 20 with the genie character class doesn't crash the game
The bug with using consumables even when they weren't selected has been fixed
The prices of crops and other items no longer exceed their ranges
Items that don't require sugar for processing no longer display a message about the lack of sugar
Global Warming perk now removes all buildings from water
Tool animations now draw over water
You can now put cloth into the loom
You can no longer pick up two buildings at once
Consumables are no longer used when harvesting crops
Buildings can no longer be placed outside of the map (fences can still be placed)
When canceling the construction of a building and there is no space in the backpack, the materials are now dropped on the ground
The character class description in the game now displays correctly

What's the difference between this game and the regular Another Farm Roguelike?

I was disappointed with Another Farm Roguelike, it felt like it wasn't finished yet and needed some polishing to be really good. Now I see this game exists. Is it a reboot? What happened?
