2025 is coming to a close and we’re getting ready for a brief break to spend the holidays with our loved ones and rest up ahead of diving into a busy but exciting January. Before we do, we’d like to take a quick look back at what an eventful year it has been for Last Flag, and to say a huge thank you to everyone in the community.

An Action-Packed Year

Following Last Flag’s reveal at Summer Game Fest in June, we’ve been excited to watch our small Friends-and-Family playtest group transform into a growing community of flag hunters from around the world as more and more of you have requested playtest invites. We’ve even been lucky enough to meet some of you in person as we brought Last Flag to events like Gamescom, Brasil Game Show, and WePlay Expo. Over the past six months, you’ve helped us stress test our tech, discovered and reported bugs, become a crucial sounding board for new features and changes we’ve implemented, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have you all with us.

Since those initial playtests last winter, we’ve released six major updates, brought Knives, Roadie, and Skyfire into the fray, and introduced our second map, called Log Jam. We added Quickmatch, social features, menu overhauls, and support for 17 different languages. Not to mention a broad array of art, animation, environment, UI, sound, combat, gameplay, and performance improvements, as well.

Community Feedback, Major Impact

Through it all, the feedback you’ve shared with us has had a real impact on the game. Here are just a few of the ways the community has helped to shape Last Flag in 2025:

The addition of the Training Gym where players can tinker with contestants outside of matches against real players.
Infinite stamina while out of combat.
Passive health regeneration while out of combat.
The ability for teams to earn up to 50% more time to retake their flag from the enemy pyramid.
A max of 2 duplicate contestants per team, down from 5 (and we’re currently trying out a max of 1 per team internally.)
Quick melee attacks for all ranged contestants.
Increased default Field of View for all contestants.
Ambient music and sounds throughout each match.
Improved hit markers, hit sounds, and footstep audio.
Additional settings for more flexibility to adjust sliding, crouching, and aim sensitivity.
Numerous tuning adjustments across all our contestants.
And much more!

The thoughts you share during and after playtests help us make Last Flag an even better game with every update, and we love to hear from you. Please keep it coming as we roll into 2026.

New Trailer Debut & Public Demo Live Now!

We dropped a brand-new trailer today during the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted 2025, and in case you missed the live show, you can check out the trailer below. And if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on Last Flag we’ve got a new public demo on Steam that you can dive into right now and all weekend long!

A Brilliantly Devised Plan

Get to know some of Last Flag’s contestants a little better in our latest trailer for the game, which just aired for the first time during the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted 2025. Julius calls the shots with a strategy he’s cooked up that’s practically guaranteed to ensure victory for the team. . . as long as everything goes according to plan.

Play the Demo All Weekend Long

From now through December 7, you can head in game to try out Last Flag during our free demo on Steam! Blaze a trail to the opposing flag as Skyfire, pick off enemies one by one as Banshee, or slice and dice your way to victory from the shadows as Knives. With nine unique contestants to choose from, there are plenty of playstyles to try out during your matches. Additionally, we’ve implemented a wide variety of translations so that you can play in your preferred language.

Demo Start: Thursday, December 4 at 12pm PST / 3pm EST / 9pm CET
Demo End: Sunday, December 7 at 10pm PST / 1am EST / 7am CET (Dec 8)

Hit the Training Gym

If you’re new to the game, we’ve recently added the Training Gym, which you can access from the game’s “Play” menu. Head there to tinker with each contestant in the Firing Range or Ability Range before you head into your first match against real players.

NDA Lifted

Whether you’re a content creator looking to live stream your matches, or you just want to post a fun clip for your friends to see, we’ve lifted our playtesting Non-Disclosure Agreement during the demo. That means you can broadcast your games, record and post video or screenshots, and discuss the game freely.

Community Demo Activities

Throughout the demo this weekend, we’ve got lots of activities in store for you in the official Last Flag Discord server. Whether you’re playing to beat the devs for a special server role, checking off squares on your Last Flag Bingo card, or tuning into a live Q&A, there are plenty of opportunities to join the fun. Here’s the full schedule:

Beat the Devs at Their Own Game

A community favorite in the past, “Beat the Devs” sessions return each day during this weekend’s demo. We can’t wait to go head-to-head with you, so come show us what you’re made of!

Do your best to win a match against a member of the Night Street Games team (they’ll have “\[NS]” in their names). Then, grab a screenshot of your post-match scoreboard and share it in our Discord server. When you do, you’ll earn the “Dev Destroyer” server role.

Join Our Live Dev Q&As

In case you hadn’t seen him just yet, we recently revealed Skyfire as the latest contestant to join the cast of Last Flag. This weekend, we’re hosting developer Q&A sessions focused on Skyfire with members of the Night Street team. Bring your art and design questions with you!

Complete Your Last Flag Bingo Card

We’ve put together a uniquely Last Flag-themed Bingo card loaded with side quests that will help you really sink your teeth into the game. Complete any five squares in a row on the Bingo card below and mark them off as you go. Submit your Bingo card in the Last Flag Discord server before the demo concludes to earn the special Bingo Master server role. Bonus points if you complete the entire card!

Wishlist Giveaway Begins Today!

We recently revealed our new contestant, Skyfire, who will be playable as part of a major new patch in our public demo this weekend, and we’re about to release a brand new trailer during the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted 2025 on December 4. To help celebrate these huge moments as we close out the year, we’re partnering up with http://raijin.gg to host a giveaway in which you can win a share in a prize pool valued up to 2,500 USD!

Get Your Name into the Running

Enter by visiting Raijin.gg and linking your Steam account to receive Raijin Play Passes. You can use one of your Play Passes to join the Last Flag giveaway[raijin.gg], and then wishlist Last Flag on Steam to earn 10 giveaway entries (20 entries if you have the Rare badge on the platform).

What’s Up for Grabs?

This has to be the most boring looking storepage I've seen so far. Fake "streamer" clips as a trailer, horrendously generic art style that tries really hard to offend nobody. Music sounds like generic royalty-free slop. Zero edginess or personality whatsoever. Almost as if machine generated....

Demo Feedback

I only played 3 Matches but I think that's already a decent amount to get the gist of the Game. I think the Game is interesting, that you can Hide the Flag anywhere on your side of the Map. But there also lies one of the issues, in my opinion. Because if you get a Team that isn't as good as the other Team or is simply not playing the objective well... you are basically screwed in a very unfun Match. I mean, that is basically Competitive Gaming 101, but here it feels like a drag because Matches can just tak...

I feel shaky about this game surviving beyond the first couple of weeks.

Capture the flag really isn't good enough to keep anyone hooked not to mention the art style being a bit lackluster. I do love the 70s-esque styling but damn do none of these character feel memorable. I completely forgot this game existed until it popped up in the PC game awards. Not too dissimilar to Concord. Don't try to be a fortnite for the love of god....
