Join us at Steam Next Fest to experience the 'Ruins To Fortress' demo! 'Ruins To Fortress' is a side-scrolling, multiplayer survival indie game. Explore a post-apocalyptic island, craft, build, tear down enemy bases, defend and nuke your rivals! Life's about surviving in this multiplayer game, no matter what it takes!

In Ruins To Fortress, a full day-night cycle lasts 45 minutes. Choose between Player vs Player (PvP) or Player vs Enemy (PvE) modes. Pick your survival strategy—search for loot in containers and chests, or farm and sell your harvest at vending machines.

Build and design bases to protect your area and control the island's resources. Use a boat to navigate around enemy bases, craft tools and gear, hunt animals, and fight other players or NPCs.

You can host your own game or join dedicated servers. During the demo release, our servers can handle up to 100 players as we test the system. We’ve also added 10 languages to the menu for better accessibility.

We are a small indie game studio, exploring and innovating in ways that big AAA studios often can't, dedicated to creating great games.

Inherently Flawed?

Is it just me or is this kind of game just a terrible idea for 2D? Half the maps is literally unreachable. Run left, you eventually get shot... Run right, you eventually get shot... Quit game. Running left or right, up or down. Unless we have a really good way to move up and down, like starting with a shovel... In addition to left and right, there should probably be some pseudo-3D like a background layer or something where we can traverse. Like maybe being able to travel to separate locations if you enter...

Improvements:

After collecting feedback from the community during the open world festival, we have made the following enhancements:

Added headlamp for hands-free exploration.
Provided a wooden club at the start for easier gathering and looting.
Removed left-click double click to drop items from inventory.
Enabled right-click fast switch to tool slots and reverse.
Enhanced the design of the Ruins in the level.
Added an alert sound for when something can't be done.
Improved the tutorial.
Refined Animal NPCs behavior when hit.
Added muzzle flash to soldier/outlaw NPC weapons.
Reduced the buzzing sound near the garbage.
Adjusted building parts costs.
Improved cloth animations.
Upgraded server browser backend.

Disabled toolbar and health status GUI while gliding on a drone or in a boat.
Enhanced Campfire, Oven, and Smelter GUI with production status indicators.
Improved multiplayer backend to reduce rare disconnections.
Faster mouse wheel scrolling in the Options menu.
Increased overall performance(FPS).

Really not liking this "server" and "always running" ♥♥♥♥♥

I prefer my games to pause when I tell them to pause.

Improvements: Added Linux support. Adjusted drop rates for chests, loot containers, and NPCs to balance the drops. Added a "Greetings" Keyboard command to say hello to other players. Fixed an issue with dead NPCs or players replaying the full death animation when flying with a drone. Two mouse issues

In the options menu, it takes 17 clicks of my scrollwheel to move one line item. I think it should scroll faster than that. At 3840x2160 resolution, this game's custom mouse cursor is too small to see. I have to move the mouse quickly in circles to find it....
