We're excited to announce a new version 0.5.0! This includes a new Weakness System. Now consecutive perfect parries can expose a monster's weaknesses. The more weaknesses you expose, the greater the damage dealt during a counterattack.

We've also implemented various bug fixes and improvements based on the recent feedback we've received! ːsteamhappyː

Demo feedback

Just finished the demo, wanted to give some feedback. The setting and theme, sound design, and the overall vibe of the game is great. The actual gameplay is a little bit rough, which is understandable since this is not the finished product, but I have some thoughts that may or may not be helpful, specifically: Telegraphing - based on how precise the timing requirements are for parrying etc. enemy moves need to be telegraphed in a way that makes it more obvious when a hit will connect with you. Soul Devourer v0.4.0

We are excited to announce that we have released a new version of our demo.

We’ve made significant changes to the gameplay! Enemy contact damage has been completely removed, and we’ve introduced a new parry system. This brings a fresh dynamic to combat, making the experience more engaging and strategic. Even if you’ve played the previous demo, we highly recommend trying this updated version to experience the new mechanics!

Our project has been a bit delayed due to some personal circumstances earlier this year. As a result, this new demo includes only the first two scenes. Rest assured, we are actively working on new content and will continue to update the demo in the coming months.

If you have downloaded Soul Devourer on Steam, the game should automatically get this latest version.

Demo Impressions - Very Promising!

I had a great time with this. The atmosphere was appropriately oppressive, and I really felt a linger dread as I explored this horrifically destroyed city. The game play was also completely solid. Simple combat, but absolutely got the job done right. Great exploration too, and I especially appreciated how traps would adjust slight to accommodate which direction you were approaching them from. The fact that the devs thought of this was great. My one complaint - and I've seen this mentioned in other threads...
