Hello all, September has been a busy month for us and Top Gnome as we have been gearing up for Steam Next Fest this October! We've been pushing hard to get Top Gnome demo ready for you all to finally play. We've been itching (Bert included) to see what everyone thinks, and we want to hear feedback on your experience with Top Gnome's Demo.

We have also decided to introduce a new mechanic called Trinkets to spice things up. Trinkets can be bought from the shop for cheap, and give unique bonuses that can be upgraded if you can find and catch the illusive Rosetta Scarabs. While you only start with one trinket slot, you will be able to unlock more as you play through the game.

Overall this month has been incredibly productive and while we wait for Next Fest, here is a summary of what got done this month (We may have forgotten to list some things):

• Added a new trinket system that will give bonuses depending on what you choose to equip
  
• Added a menu to list all the new trinkets
  
• You can now cycle through potions you pick up
  
• Shop now has full functionality
  
• Button prompts will now show up over their corresponding actions, and will match your key bind settings and controller type
  
• Added potion and button drops from enemies
  
• Added Rosetta Scarabs
  
• Re-balanced the difficulty of early-mid waves
  
• The map and bullet select screen got a makeover
  
• The game now concludes at wave 15
  
• Added a continue feature that will save your progress from an unfinished run
  
• A whole bunch of polish with both menus and in-game
  
• Lots of bug fixes (They never end)
  
• Small performance improvements (Ongoing process)

That about wraps up this month's update. There is still tons of work we need to do to get things ready, so we need to get back on top of that.

Another month, another update!

This month has been focused primarily on the content and meat of the game, as well as little bits of polish that makes the game feel good to play. We added several new bullet types and are about a third of the way through adding in potions and their effects. What's a potion you may ask?

Well, potions in Top Gnome serve as the game's powerups. As you play through the game and collect the game's currency (Buttons!), you will be able to buy these powerups as well as the different types of bullets. We wanted each potion to have a unique effect that makes them stand out from one another, and hold the design philosophy that potions must give back some form of control back to the player given the game's mechanics.
