Almost eight months to the day since its initial release on January 18 - Bulletstorm VR brings its biggest and most badass update with the release of version 1.4 today, which includes:

Horde Mode throws you into three new and bespoke murder domes to face increasingly difficult waves of enemies in your bid to survive.

Five Brand New Skillshots that make the most of the VR exclusive dual wielding have you stylin’ and profiling their way across Stygia.

Immersive Charged Shots have you physically twist, turn, pull, push, or rip at your weapon of choice to send it into overdrive mode.

Along with the new additions are several improvements and upgrades that will help more players step into the ass-kicking boots of Grayson Hunt.

Leaderboards to see who has skillshot superiority in both the campaign levels and the new Horde Mode.
Improved levels, visuals, and performance with more VR interactivity, higher fidelity, and smoother gameplay.
Left-handed support is needed for left-leaning locomotioners to be able to switch their movement thumbstick.
Adjustable Holsters to completely tailor your holsters to your needs, whether you’re seated, standing, tall, or small.
Korean and Simplified Chinese Subtitles extend the language support already offered in the game to accommodate our players in these countries better.

Assuming reviews are good, how big a deal do you think this game is for VR? I understand this is a popular console game or something, but I don't follow consoles at all so I'm totally unfamiliar with it.

Bad graphis and no gore

Game has worse graphics than 2011 version and there's no gore in it. It looks like the german censored version.

STILL No Character Shadows!

The game has no dynamic character shadows (unlike the original 2011 release), which makes this 2024 version look really cheap and lazy (although the rest of the game looks great). Devs, if you want people to buy the game at the price you're asking, don't release a game 15 years later that looks WORSE! UPDATE: As of Patch 1.08 the dev says "they fixed the game" but still no shadows. yeesh!...

Why did I expect something like this?

Too bad, too bad, too bad. I was actually in mild anticipation, but deep down something told me that this port was going to be the next disaster for PCVR. Developers, if you want to flatten PCVR for good, keep up the good work. It's sad to know that there's a real company behind this and not two dedicated programmers or something. I'm sure they would have done a better job. See the HL ports, for example. But to demand so much money for such a botched game is the next level of audacity. Yikes!...

Charge up and Eviscerate your enemies in VR with the Peacemaker Carbine and let 'er rip with the new ripcord charge shot.

The Screamer

Think you've got skills? The Screamer is a trick shooter's dream. With great range, accuracy, and power, and a new twist-charged flare action - just remember not to blow your load too quickly!

The Boneduster

Slap the big red skull button and turn their souls to ash with this brick shithouse of a gun! Your enemies won't even think about thinking before the Boneduster obliterates their entire being!

The Penetrator

Fancy ejecting some high-velocity self-motorized drill bits that can impale enemies into any surface? We thought so! Grab the Penetrator then twist and drill it right into their thick skulls so they understand!

The Flailgun

Whoever thought of making a gun that shoots two grenades tied together needs a raise because this is awesome! Watch your enemies try to wriggle outta the wrath of the Flailgun!

The Headhunter

Headhunters the name, headshots the game - With each round containing a radio-controlled guidance device directed by your head, whip your bullets around corners and obstacles to go full ‘Wanted’ on their ass.

The Bouncer

This massive bazooka fires impact-resistant explosive rounds that bounce off any surface, making it easy to dispatch that annoying asshole on the ledge above you from downtown.

Only played about an hour so far. I'm enjoying it. Graphics are a little better than I expected. Runs smooth using dlss on quality. Game play is good so far. I wouldn't and didn't pay full price for it. Of course I'm pretty thrifty...
