The musical world of Fretless keeps expanding with new artworks by artists David Thor Fjarlason (Dead Cells) and Mari Quinto (Lumi and the Great Big Galaxy) that give us a new glance at the game’s colorful and zany characters.

To celebrate the occasion, the free game demo (first revealed during Steam’s Save&Sound event) will be available again on Steam for a week from November 20th to November 26th!

David Thor Fjarlason’s new key art immerses us in the game’s music-inspired environments, where instruments mingle with nature to create new architecture and landscapes - the perfect arenas for turned-based music battles!

Mari Quinto’s vibrant character arts give us a glimpse of Fretless’ colorful personalities:

Rob, the friendly musician fighting to restore harmony, inspired by Rob Scallon

Rick Riffson, Super Metal Records’ boss, trying to own every piece of music with his soul-binding contracts

The fan-favorite percushrooms, who will give you a strong beating,

Dr Strum, a disgruntled scientist helping Rob in his quest

SMR Larry: the first boss to discover in the game demo, playing sick riffs with his demonic keytar!

Feedback Demo

Had a lot of Fun with the Demo, the Grafik looks nice, the Gameplay (in Combat and out of Combat) is nice, the Soundtrack and Animations are cool and over all it plays realy well. Some thinks like Keybind/rebinds would be nice (pretty sure in the finished game this will be an Option) or the Option to do Combat and talking to NPC`s with only a Keyboard (Menüs like Mods or Deckbuildung still with the Mouse). The Only Problem i had, was that the Button to remove the Mods wasnt there....

Get more Fretless during the weekend: Demo is available until Sunday!

As Save&Sound 2023 came to a close, we decided to get the show going during the weekend with a few surprises:

- For those who didn't get the chance to shred or pet the dog this week, we've extended demo availability until Sunday. This gives you plenty of time to run in the Bell flowers, fine tune your strategy agains SMR Larry, and maybe find a few power-ups hidden around the map ;)

- Rob Scallon, the inspiration behind the game and our main character, has tried out the demo for the first time this week and his reaction was priceless. Discover his first impressions and a few anecdotes about the game in a special broadcast on our Steam page, airing all weekend! You might also recognize someone familiar in the video...

Fretless' demo is available until Sunday, 8 PM CET / 2 PM ET. After that, you must say goodbye to the Percushrooms for a while. Yes, you do.

Don't forget to wishlist the game to reunite with them in 2024!

Fretless' combat system is centered around music: guitars are weapons, and melody is power! As you choose your instrument, you'll have to select your favorite riffs to defeat your enemies in awesome music battles.

Crescendo needs some work [FEEDBACK]

Just played the game and the crescendo feature is great! But I just wish that there was a clearer indication of what I am doing right and wrong in the crescendo. For example when I know that I did everything right in the crescendo the hits doesn't line up right with the music making it unsatisfying. Hope this can be worked upon somehow....

I'm curious if the other guitars and pedals will be locked behind a Zelda-esque gauntlet dungeon, or if they will be away in a more side quest hidden area (like the extra riffs in the demo). I think it bears thinking about because it's quite pivotal to the gameplay right? Game is super cool, can't wait until the full version is released....
