Greetings!

Since the last update we've been taking a careful look at the feedback we've received from you on both Discord and Steam Discussions, as well as looking at some statistics. It seems like the first 5 minutes, including the main menu, is where the biggest issues have been present. Therefore we have put all our effort on that front.

A slower introduction

We have made a new opening experience that aims to make things a bit easier and more intuitive. Our hopes are that these changes will let players get accustomed to the mechanics before putting them through challenges. This also means that a big chunk of the level has been remade.

Overhauled UI & settings menu

The UI has been completely reworked both visually and functionally. Hopefully it will be a lot more user-friendly and remapping should be working properly. Please let us know if you encounter any issues, and we will be on it ASAP.

AI temporarily removed

Due to some bugs with the 3D navigation, we have temporarily removed all AI (except fish).

Upcoming changes

In the near future we will:

Fix the 100% GPU bug
Health & Checkpoint system
Overhaul Combat and AI (join the upcoming playtest to take part in testing!)

Loved the demo

I had no performance problems on max graphics (RTX 5090, so yeah) . I think it respected the 90 fps limit I told it. And thank you for putting in frequent checkpoints and generally making the game forgiving of mistakes. Not only is this a less frustrating experience than those games that make you lose a ton of progress if you fall, but in this game where it's not obvious what kind of jump to do next, it allows stress-free experimentation. Firstly, a HUGE thanks to all of you who played and gave us feedback on the demo! We never imagined that there'd be so many of you. We've watched every video, ready every comment and message. We've done our best to try and improve the core experience firstly, and we hope that this update will provide what many of you have been asking for!

Improvements

The walljump has been given a complete overhaul. Hopefully it’s less confusing and much more fun!
Ledge grab is now unlocked by default.
Ground movement has been made more responsive, and sprinting is faster.
Polejump now launches you properly, and has been given a proper animation. Climbing on poles is now somewhat faster as well.
The level has been updated to account for the new movement abilities, and it now offers more routes.

Playtest upcoming!

We’re going to launch either a public playtest, or a test branch, where we will be uploading updates more frequently. There we can test and tweak both old and new features more rapidly.

Known issues

100% GPU usage on certain machines.
Saves are not compatible between updates.
AI getting stuck.
Player dropping carried creatures when taking damage.
Power plug not respawning.
Physics “bugging out”.
Grab-priority is not always aligned with what players generally want to do.
Player occasionally gets stuck in "jumping" animation
Incredibly rare, but mid-walljump you can glitch into an object.

the fps lock doesn't work though, also if spiders are attacking me while i'm trying to grab a rock i can't grab it. wishlisted!

Demo Review... Read at your own risk

At first, I thought this could be a fun little PS2-era Tomb Raider-like game—very old-school and retro, which is what initially pulled me in. Great demo, but UE

Really good game already. It gave some Rainworld vives. I was salivating at the end, and all those blocked zones where such a tease. The only problem is that, for a game with those graphics, it's using 100% of my GPU, 100% of the time, while at low settings. I have a 1060 GTX. It ran at constant 60 fps , but i've played Black Desert Online on high settings and it had better performance, cmon. And it's 100% Unreal Engine's fault. demo save not working

or continuing doesn't, which is effectively the same. first time i saved and exited, i was still in the first area, so it wasn't a big deal. the second time, i had just gotten the "grab onto mesh" ability, and am not keen on replaying to that point in the demo again and not knowing if i can take a break from it or not. but i've seen enough to keep an eye on it! i appreciate that eating rocks and plugs knocks me out XD...
