A third-person action RPG or MODA, where 80s rockers are dragged into a cursed medieval world. Bring friends, level up fast, unlock skills through quests and loot, and Prestige for permanent upgrades. Go on runs to complete missions, but just remember dudes, hair spray and fireballs don’t mix!

Terrain Textures fixes:

As promised we fixed the terrain textures. There was an issue with our tiling textures script that is now fixed!

UI:

Respawn button fixed

Skills:

Players now start with one skill/spell

So, hard to take this seriously with all the bros and other stoner type language. Otherwise, the actual rpg mechanics look decent though respawn is nuts.

Patch notes 0.8.04 - Medieval Darkness DEMO

Onboarding revamp:

The Creator now directly imparts his great wisdom (pop up messages added to help guide the player)

The Creators Scene is revamped as well. Please make a new character and tell us what you think!

Game Crashing/Hanging on startup:

Extra loading screen added to help with the “Game Hangs” issue. You should now see a MD splash screen at startup. Hopefully helps with the windows time out message!

AI:

Followers shouldn't get stuck when trying to use a Skill now.

UI:

Change/updated Graphic Settings.

Settings can be closed with ESC key

Journal/Help menu now has a keybind (J)

Known Issues:

With some of the settings changes, it has inadvertently affected some of the visuals. Notably the ground can be shiny and some leaves “Sparkle” very hard. These will be fixed in an upcoming patch.

Demo Patch notes v0.8.3

Big changes to AI coming soon

-Not in this patch but soon we are adding more functionally to monsters. Some will recognize walls and not care for them if they are blocking their path. So you will no longer be safe behind your walls!

Know issues:

The game may take a long time to load, especially the first time. If windows prompts you to wait, do so. It should eventually load!

UPDATES!

General:

Project cleanup: Removed many unneeded items from the demo. This may help with loading.

Networking:

-Players should be able to see other servers now!

-Clients should now see other players(icons) at all times.

Quests:

Save the world quest should show a little more correctly.

Tutorial window:

Re-worded much of the text in the tutorial panel to be more readable. More changes are coming!

UI:

-Elemental resistances should now show correctly on the players stats menu

-System menu now covers the full screen

-Settings menu now has a darker background

Scene changes:

-Fixed a navigation obstacle on one of the towns.

Followers:

-Command UI fixed for clients

-Defensive followers now retaliate against damage to their summoner.

Thoughts on the demo so far

I haven't played much of it, only for a little over an hour, but here are my thoughts on the game so far. I really like the character customization element, I always love games that include lots of character customization. It's cool you guys had voice actors for this game, a lot of indie games don't include that. The combat and game play elements are okay. The UI needs some prettying up. Thank you playtesters! Demo is coming 9/17/25

The Playtest is Complete! A huge thank you to everyone who joined the playtest. Your feedback has been invaluable in helping us polish and refine the game. We are excited to announce that the Medieval Darkness Demo is finished and will be available on September 17, 2025! It will be available directly from our Steam page.
