I absolutely adored this game, I liked APICO too, but this was a lot better, just a lot more entertaining with its puzzle-y gameplay and the story was actually pretty good too, even though that's not what I'd expect or even want from a game like this. I got completely addicted as you can see, if you like cozy puzzle games with breeding mechanics you need to pick this up! Not to mention the art and the UI are just madly beautiful and a real feast on the eyes. The dev is really kind and helpful on the Discord server, too, they're quick to chime in whenever you're stuck or encounter a bug. Also for a price this low, this is absolutely a steal! Don't sleep on this!!!

Non-Apico initiated player here! Before this game was gifted to me from a friend, I had actually never heard of Mudborne or Apico. So I pretty much went into this blind and only knowing it had to do something about frogs.

And oh man, this game did NOT disappoint. I've had so much fun with this game that it got to the point where I started hyper fixating on playing it.

As a big frog and pixel art style lover, this game really hit those marks for me! The graphics are so charming and pleasing to the eye, and the designs for the frogs, PC and NPCS are really cute and unique. Seeing the tiny pixel forms of the long legged dazzlers in their tiny top hats is always a highlight for me in the game.

But what really pushes this game above and beyond for me though is the puzzle aspect of the game! I personally find the challenge and reward of breeding all the different kinds of frogs the game has to offer wildly fun! My desk is currently covered in post-it notes with genetic codes and mushroom combos to achieve the perfect frogs. Nothing gets the dopamine pumping more than seeing my lil froglets grow up and then catching em to see what fun new combo I've made.

Sound design and copy wise is also such a treat! I love hearing the melodic pings when you complete a puzzle correctly and the immersive sounds unique to the areas you're in. And the writing for this game has plenty of comedic moments and fun frog puns, especially in the frog descriptions.

So all of that is to say: this game is RIBBITING!! Frog, whimsy, and puzzle lovers, this game is definitely worth your time playing!

Excellent and charming puzzle game once you get into it - it has more depth than it looks on the surface

Pros:

* Charming graphics and designs, frog puns and riffs everywhere
* Solid writing for a game where that's not a focus
* Fun puzzle / exploration mechanics are more involved than you expect

Cons:

* High recommend adding the "Run Faster" mod - the game's base speed is too slow IMO
* Early game is a bit confusing
