every RPG fan had that game they played as a little kid that they had no idea how to play but kept trying
this was mine along with morrowind
YEARS of playing this game top 5 of all time
i still remember when i finally beat the game felt like i finally became a charizard

dont kill the guy who says his friends poisoned you before he can walk away . he wasnt bluffing my team died 14 days late after resting before the final boss and would have to reload a save from days of playing before RIP.

I don't write reviews. I just don't. But this masterpiece deserves one.
I started playing baldurs gate 3 a lot last year. It was ok but good enough to get me addicted. I got interested in the original game expecting something really outdated and almost bad. But this game is so much better than the third game. It is shorter but has so much to discover.
The graphics might seem pixelated but when you're playing it seems almost like every map is a beautiful painting that you're trying to complete by exploring. It has something really beautiful about it that I've never seen in another game.
It has a lot of potential for replayability since you can level your character up to lvl 20 but after the first playthrough you're probably only lvl 10.
The classes are amazing, especially the wild mage. I mean in the first five minutes of starting the game I fired a spell on an npc who wanted to train me but thanks to wild magic a cow meteor fell from the sky, nuked every living being in view distance including myself and I fell off my chair laughing. that's the game for you.
Also the dlc which is free is probably the best dlc I've ever seen. It's a really huge escape room type tower with 4 stories full of extremely difficult puzzles and 3 stories of exploration and fights with a half boss and an actual boss. I probably spent 10 hours on it writing down clues and combinations and stuff and it was amazing.
The fights are really satisfying there are a lot of sidequest and I'm still discovering new playable characters 40 hours in.

The difficulty is very high for a lot of people even outside of the dlc so I should say that this is probably not a game for the casual player. But thats also a good thing because it poses an actual challenge.

What is there to say that haven't been said about this games. It's good. Not as good as Baldurs Gate 2, but still nice.
I played the game back when it was originally released in the 90s, and a still play it from time to time, mostly for the full playthrough including BG2. Still love it.

People have pointed out that the game is hard, which is true. It kind of rewards you for actually learning the underlaying ruleset. Like, read the manual. Actually knowing what THAC0 is and how it interacts with Armor Class and learning what spells do and what they do not will help you a lot. I guess you can enjoy and beat the game without, but it will be considerably harder, I think.

Although the game mechanics like spells and stealth ar confusing, its still a pretty good game
