Cant save the game. Whenever Im at the terminal and want to save my advances, the red circle gets into an infinite rotation without saving the game. Is it because I run this game on a 64-bit OS? Solution?

I have this game since 2011 but never really played it more than 3 hours. Forgot about it, tried it again today and ... I totally surprised how much fun it is. The graphics are good, not retro or bad old graphics like I feared, the sound is ok, the explosions are making your life difficult because and the aliens are ... woahhh. I don't like spiders!!! The quality of the game seems to be quite high. Did I miss the hype for the game 12 years ago or did everyone else not realize how much simple fun it is?...
