This game is quite interesting but there's two prime reasons I can't recommend it.

1: Sword fighting is ♥♥♥♥. It just is.

2: Pirates only seem to follow you and never other vessels. It's annoying.

I'll leave an extensive review if I ever play more of this game.

For now, all you need to know is that the camera/movement system for third person is taken directly from ancient Tomb Raider.

That's right, the tank controls.. in 2024, on a PC where third person is more superior than any gamepad can ever deliver (mouse to move camera, WASD to move PC).

All of the updates are busy replacing models and bug-fixing, which is great BUT, none of the updates EVER fix the tank controls. Developers don't even talk about this problem, so you know they think it's not an issue.

So there. Even if I play this game after this review and enjoy it, the fact that the third person controller is garbage tank controller from ancient Tomb Raider games, will not result in a positive review in the end.

Okay so, the game is good and enjoyable. I have even personally helped in its development making it much better than it used to be, however the release was rushed and the game is not finished, and I'm sure that it won't be for next 2 or 3 years. One story-line is complete and even though there are a lot more things that could be added to it, I would say that it's fine and good enough.
So if I was to rate the story I would say 6/10 only because it is not done, and the other 2 characters don't have a story line yet.
The game itself is quite good almost everything that should be there is present, both land and sea combat, trading, and more, however there are 3 major things that are wrong with this game:
1st is that it suffers from repetition, what I mean by this is that a lot of places are copy/pasted, for example you walk into the jungle and there is a chance that you will see the exact same screen somewhere else, but as I said the game is not complete yet and things like this are being updated slowly;
2nd is kind of personal, I hate the fact that only 2 characters can use muskets, they are not op especially not on npcs, because they will just run around and die, in my opinion swords are way more effective on npcs so might as well make muskets available for every single character;
3rd is a new one which only appeared in CL, strong weapons appearing very early in the game, for example "Duelling sword" (which can be the best sword you might find in entire game with 60dmg, 2 weight, and 0 balance) and a "Good musket" (an above average musket) being available for purchase while the main character is lower than Rank 9, and things like this completely destroy the game. This is the exact reason why a lot more people prefer Diablo II over Diablo III, because the real treasure is not easy to find. This can easily be fixed however and I hope it will be.

Other than that it's the best pirate style game that I have ever played, it outperforms AC-Black Flag (not in the story but in the game play), Naval Action (which consumes a lot of real time just to do simple things), Blackwake, Sea of Thieves (it's a good game and I like it as well, but it lacks a lot of things which CL has, and it looks goofy, however it is a multiplayer so that's where it wins) and many others which I can't remember at the moment.
